My darling husband of almost 17 years just told me I looked like a rat or a gerbil he wasn't sure which..     Like I needed to be told I look ridiculous. My entire face is swollen, including my eyes. I'm a red, puffy mess thanks to the poison ivy.

When I get bitten by a mosquito, it never itches until I notice the bite otherwise -- see it, find it while showering, etc.  As soon as I'm aware of it, it begins to itch.  Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm bothered by the Hardline Straight Edge movement that wants to force their ideas upon others, often trying to stir up hate and encouraging conformity. To me, Straight Edge is all about non-conformity - not joining the crowd who are into unhealthy self-destructive behaviours such consuming alcohol, doing illegal drugs, smoking and engaging in unsafe sex practices yet still being able to enjoy the same music stylings, still being able to have fun and enjoy oneself. Just use your head ("Flex Your Head") and do what you feel is right. Self discipline, hard work, strong beliefs in what you personally believe is right. I don't believe being straight edge means you only listen to straight edge bands. It also doesn't give one the right to use violence on those who have a different opinion - to force that stance upon others - this lifestyle must be chosen IMO. Anything else can never work. Violence, hate and enforced conformity only works to damage the positive of being  Straight Edge as society comes to see not a group of people choosing to live a healthier lifestyle and acting as an example for others but instead a gang of bullies.
