Greece has "avoided" default by coming up with a plan where they pay 30 percent on their bonds. Unfortunately for people who hold these bonds, what this likely means if that 30 percent is all they were get as the credit default swaps they bought for protection will be worthless because it's not legally a default.

the people who sold those CDS will make a ton of money becaue they don't have to pay anything out. Who sold them? probably goldman sachs and JP Morgan

You know what would suck?  If you were in ancient times and they were storming a castle, and you got to be one of the guys who had to climb the 50' ladder to try and get on top.  Bad enough I'm afraid of heights to start with, but then you'd get to see the 15 guys ahead of you fall to their deaths.  But not until after they got a two pound chunk of flesh hacked out of them.  Nice food for thought as you're waiting your turn.  Maybe somebody would throw a big rock down right on your head, or shoot you with an arrow.  You'd be hanging there in agonizing pain and the guy below you would be like "Dude, you're holding up the line!"  Even if you made it to the top, the guys on the caste could take a nice full swing at you, and you be perched precariously up there trying to swing your sword with one hand.  And if you actually got on the castle, it would be you against probably 20 other guys.

If anybody announced they were planning to storm the castle over in the next kingdom, I'd be like "Oh jeez, that's too bad.  I'd really like to help but me and my family just happen to be moving out of here...this evening!.  Yeah, sorry, been planning this for a long time ya know."
