So I had microwave ovens all my life but only last week I discovered how great it is to cook rice in the microwave oven. No more stove top rice cooking for me.

Just finished teaching the World War One unit to my night class at the local community college.  I am so fascinated by this conflict - so wasteful, so pointless, so completely destructive of so much that was good and beautiful - and yet it shaped the century we live in to this day.  I wrapped up with the bitter, angry words of Arthur Graham West -

"Ah how good God is, to suffer us be born just now
When youth that else would rust can slake his blade in gore
Where very God Himself does seem to walk those bloody fields of Flanders He so loves."

I can't imagine what it would have been like to have been in such a conflict.

You missed an epic battle between a man named Fatass McGee and the Communist Penguins from Mexico.

Tried to take the top off the butter dish, but the top was stuck to the bottom, finally un-sticking when it was a few inches in the air.  It did a nice 180 degree flip and landed butter-side-down on the countertop.  Plop.

Oh yeah, it's going to be one of those days.

Got a random Email last night from some guy who didn't like my hobby of arrowhead collecting.
Said it was clearly illegal, and he hoped I got cancer and died before I ruined any more American history.
