My first night of a new semester teaching U.S. History II at the local community college.  Started them off with the usual syllabus explanation, then launched into my collection of quotes on "What is History?", a snapshot of what was going on in the world in 1870, and began my discussion of Reconstruction.  It's a small class (12 students) and I think I am going to enjoy myself.

The Reconstruction period had a LOT going on...the recently freed slaves, the railroads out west, the Plains Indian wars, and just about anything else you could think of. It was a VERY busy time in America's history.

My friend, as usual your words ring true because, pinkie toes DO teach us the meaning of pain. I speak from experience, that's for sure!
