(I guess if you haven't read or seen The Virgin Suicides, my random thought has spoilers.)

Sometimes you can watch a scene innumerable times, and not think anything about it, and then something clicks. Like I was watching The Virgin Suicides the other night, for like the twentieth time, easily, and it hit me that in that picture Mr. Lisbon takes of the girls in their prom dresses....

....the remaining girls (Cecilia is already dead by this point) are foreshadowing their deaths.

From left to right:

Lux's hand is out like it is when they find her in the car and she's holding that cigarette.

Although you can't see it real well in this shot, Therese shuts her eyes when the camera snaps, and sort of looks asleep. (She overdoses on her mother's sleeping pills.)

Mary coughs exactly when the picture is taken. (She gasses herself in the family oven.)

And Bonnie looks like she's tying a rope around her neck. (She hangs herself in the basement, where the party was.)

That's got to be more than coincidence.
