As the facts trickle out, the Papini abduction is starting to sound (imho) like a message to Trump supporters.

RIP Shrine of Gamera. Looks like the site's gone - not sure how long it's been.

Should I make fish tacos out of soy, or human flesh?

I suspect soy would be cheaper.

Its been interesting staying with my (Mormon) mother in law while we are on holiday. Especially when I was asked about 'christmas' trees and I explained the origon behind them. Everyone is doing their best not to offend each others religions while still getting to celebrate their own which I like.

On a side note, I was helping my sister in law put up her tree last night, but when I got it out of her shed we found the top had broken off. Since she is a Harry Potter fan we went to the local Hobby Lobby and picked up a couple of metal rings for making wreaths. Hung those from the ceiling with fishing line and then hung her decorations from them to give her an invisable tree. My favourite part though is the Tardis hanging as the tree topper.

It's easy to come here for intending to stay a minute and look up and it's half an hour later. Now I know how Odysseus and his men felt.

My mother in law was in hospital getting both knees done. Popped down to the Subway for a snack while we were waiting on the operation finishing and got told "Hey, you speak pretty good English for someone who isn't from the USA".

From a literal standpoint, I think the phrase "Do you mind if...." has got to be one of the most confusing English phrases.

I mean, think about it... you go to a table and there's an empty seat next to someone else and you say, "Do you mind if I sit here?"

If the person says, "No."  You take it to mean, "No, it's okay to sit next to them."  It's one of the few phrases I can think of off-hand where "no" pretty much means "Go ahead and do whatever you're asking to do" and "Yes" means, "Don't do whatever you're asking me permission for."

And to muddle the waters further, some people you ask this question to and they misunderstand exactly what you're asking, and they, "Yes." but what they REALLY mean is, "No."

To a literal minded person, the ultimate in confusing answers to this question would be, "Yes, go ahead."

Picked up a card game today (Cannibal Pygmies In The Jungle Of Doom). Aim of the game is to make a bad movie. Might even try to play a hand or two of it inbetween games of Cards Against Humanity when we have a games night on Friday.
