From tmz.com

Quote
TMZ has learned that 2006 Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger has died in NY.

He was found dead in his bed in one of his residences in Soho by his housekeeper at 3:35 PM ET today. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime, adding pills were found near his body.

The 28-year-old actor has a two year old daughter with former fiancee Michelle Williams -- they separated in September, 2007. He plays the Joker in the upcoming Batman film, "The Dark Knight."

The NY Times is reporting a masseuse arrived at his apartment and was let in the door by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger's bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom door and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They attempted to wake him, and when they couldn't they called 911.

We're told when paramedics responded the actor was in full cardiac arrest. They attempted to perform CPR on him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wow... this is why terms like, "that's f*cked up" were created. This is crazy. I wonder if it was an overdose or a suicide...  Question

So, I wonder who the next one will be?  It always seems to happen in threes.

For once, I actually feel remorse at hearing of an actor's death.  Ledger was a fantastic actor, one who just seemed to be starting to truly hone his skill and show exactly what he was capable of.

It's a true shame.

This sucks... Bluesad

He was actually one of my favorite actors.  Most of his films were pretty good.
Have any of you seen recent photos of him?
Not the Joker pics...I'm talking about regular shots of him.  I've seen a few and he didn't look very healthy in any of them.
Who's to say what killed him?  I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

Ditto that, I really liked his movies and always looked forward to his next one ... ok barring Brokeback Mountain, cowboy love is just not my bag. Rarely do I give a hoot if some Hollywood clown OD or what ever, but Ledger was or at seemed to be a decent chap.

I'm shocked because I never thought of Heath Ledger as being one of the types of people who would OD. I saw Anna Nicole coming, as well as many others. But Ledger.. dag. He was a really good actor.

I agree. If I had to make a list of likely candidates for something like this, Heath Ledger would not likely even enter my mind. Totally surprised.

She was nearly 71 ... not exactly a spring chicken, but still not that old by todays standards.

That sux big time.   Bluesad  Never saw Brokeback but I did like him in The Patriot and he seemed like he was going to be on the fast track to big-time stardom after The Dark Knight came out.  Check out the wiki and what Ledger did to prepare for the Joker role.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Knight_%28film%29

It seems like he really got into the psycho role.  Maybe it exacerbated an existing problem.
