Amidst the saturation of James Bond inspired secret agent films that were released in the 1960s, 20th Century Fox was brave enough to release this top-notch spy thriller that has no gadgets, helicopter stunts, superhuman henchmen, or heroes dangling over shark tanks.  What it does have is a tight script, good character development, fine direction, and a wonderful cast.

George Segal stars as Quiller, an agent brought to Berlin to infiltrate a secret Nazi organization that is still operating two decades after World War II.  Also in the cast are Alec Guinness, Max von Sydow as "Oktober," leader of the Nazis, Senta Berger, and George Sanders in a small role.

If you're looking for lots of gunplay, ski chases, and explosions, stay away from this movie.  However, if you want to see a suspenseful tribute to the arts of espionage and interrogation, you might want to invest 104 minutes of your life watching THE QUILLER MEMORANDUM.
"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Great movie! I've tried to watch it twice but I've never seen the end of it.

I like the scene where Quiller is drugged and being interrogated. Some good dialogue there ... and the rest of the movie.
