I have a friend who lives in Cali and he has a prescription for medical marijuana.
And recently I read an article in the newest issue of Maxim Magazine on how easy it is to get such a prescription.

But nothing prepared me for this!

Is it just me or do the voices not sync up with the video?
I tried four different versions of the same video and none of the voices matched the peoples' mouths.

What do you think of these vending machines and the medical marijuana laws?

My mom is 75 (she would kill me for letting that out  :buggedout:) and she has always been in favour of marijuana  ~ or dagga, as we call it here ~ use for medical reasons.

She had two sisters, one with chronic asthma and the other one with cancer. Back in the day, my grandmother made a tea from marijuana which she got from the police (this was in the 1940's) and this tea, although it was bitter, would help with her sisters' pain and breathing problems.

We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

I've always been in favor of legalizing marijuana.  For everybody.  Hell, it's no different than beer, except beer makes you more aggressive while pot makes you want to sit and listen to your stereo.  I smoked it for a good ten years, I consider myself somewhat of an expert  :teddyr:  The laws making it illegal are a joke, in a decade there were probably eight times that I had to wait an extra week to get some because there wasn't any around.

Finally, I agree with WILLIAM F. BUCKLEY on something"Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could."
(See Trekgeezer's thread regarding the passing of BUCKLEY, who died today, for more wonderful quotes.)

I'm gonna be honest, I see absolutely nothing wrong with marijuana.  Pot is one of those drugs that I have never understood exactly why it is illegal.  I've never seen it make someone violent, as Jack said.  I myself have smoked it numerous times in the past and I just don't see the harm in it.  I do, however, see the harm in making it illegal.  Just think how many lives and how much money have been wasted due to the ban on marijuana.

Here is my view:  Legalize it and tax the hell out of it.  The government gets what they love best, and a lot of senseless drug related murders will not occur.

I've never smoked pot, never even had a regular cigarette.  I've always been disdainful and scathing towards druggies of any kind.  I think the vending machine is going a little too far though.

As for what Skaboi said, I tend to agree with him.  If the govt gets involved, the taxation system gets involved and at least it can be regulated.  And crime should decrease.  But there would have to be stiffer social rules for it than for ciggies.  If you leave your office for a toke, you'd come back all s**tfaced and then you couldn't do any work.  At least smokers come back and get into work again.

It would be awful, though, to see most of the population stoned and useless every day as I walk through the city.  You'd get no service in shops, any time you needed something, there'd be no straight person to help you.  And heaven help us if people like duty nurses and ambos decided to have a smoke break between saving people's lives.
