Old movie I saw in the 1960s

This is pretty vague but it's all I got. What I remember is a man and woman in 40s or 50 outfits walking down a set of snowy stairs and him looking a a old wrought iron fence and talking about a kid that was  sledding or running and died on the spikes. Like I said it's not much. Thanks
