I'm a big fan of ghost stories, especially war-themed ghost stories such as Dead Birds, Death Watch, etc..even though Dead Birds was kinda crappy, i still liked the plot. I don't think there are enough war type ghost stories (does anyone know of any other titles that are good or even a decent rental?). Anyways, back to the point, when i heard about Sugar Creek, i was really looking forward to it. Maybe i should have watched the preview first instead of relying on word of mouth. Avoid this one, as i have previously said about a few other films, the only purpose this DVD would serve is to make a handy beer coaster for the coffee table. The story line was good. Guy dragged into the middle of nowhere in a coffin by a rider on a pale horse.(yeah, although I'm not religious, I'm still a fan of revelations, go figure). Guy is shoeless, Guy spooks local rednecks because he's shoeless.. Let me tell you, the acting in this movie was stiff, thirty minutes into the 'film', i was convinced that the actors were totally made out of paper mache or cardboard cutouts, you know the kind you sometimes see in a video store that are motion detected and when you walk by they stream out some one-line flat piece of crap that gets on your nerves really quick because management always seems to think the best mass media propaganda is right inside the entrance way.
Not to forget there was the token backwoods clairvoyant child actor..enough said there...Anyways, if you happen to be out roaming your local video store and come across this..please, save your money for a soda, it will be much more fullfilling...
