I wanna fire up some-a quick topic about. Old vs' New, What is old, really in reality, Whats old. Allright, now what, okay I went looking at old B.

I was with you until the director started building cars. 

I think of the "old" period of B-movies as lasting until the 1980s.  There was a prevailing sense of sincerity about the movies up until this time (even if they were only being sincerely exploitative).

In the 90s ideas of post-modernism started filtering into pop culture, including B-movies.  After Tarantino, everything had to be self-aware.  Directors had to start deliberately tweaking conventions, and wink to the camera to show they were not serious.  For example, "pure" horror didn't strong enough anymore, and directors started moving towards cartooninsh horror-comedies that went against the old conventions, or took them so far as to be absurd parodies.  SCREAM (1996) is probably the apex of that trend. 

That's not to say B-movies today are worse or better than before.  Certainly movies like EVIL DEAD 2 and DAED-ALIVE are masterpieces of the new style, and probably a lot smarter than the old Bs.  But I think it is much harder to do something that is sort of innocent yet effective by just following the old B-movie formulas.

Revised: I think "old" B-movies ended in about 1989, after the VHS revolution had allowed people to soak up more movies than their brains could actually process.  That's when the innocence left, and when the movies started becoming self-aware.

What constitutes a B-movie is of course a matter of debate.  I would say SCREAM is a high-budget B.  Maybe JAWS too, no sure of the budget.  But I think almost any movie about slashers or murdering sharks qualifies as a B-movie, regardless of budget.  I would consiser GRINDHOUSE a B-movie with A-list actors.

Can you provide any verification of what you claim, because I cannot find any reference to the film you describe, nor have you answered any questions that anyone has asked about your posts.  Based on that, I would say you are not being truthful, and just spouting off.

Uh - there was that cartoon Jabberjaw - not exactly what you mentioned but there is a 'B' in it. Two or 'em, as a matter of fact.




'Jabberjaw' played drums in a teen-age rock band so there may have been illegal substances involved.

That's about the only reasonable reaction to his posts.  He claims to have made a number of films, but none of them have ever been verified, nor did he reply to my request for verification in this thread.

He does not make any sense, but appears otherwise harmless.

His signature now lists these movies: "Far from here, A minute away, Hell school, The last day, Rich kids, Jawb, Cop killer..................................93 more titles......."  Most of them turn up nothing on IMDB, or are so generic they turn up multiple titles.  I guess it's possible they could be bad translations of foreign movie titles he actually worked on, but I kind of doubt it.

The movie "Cop Killer", which he says he worked on, was made a long time ago but is suddenly popular.  But which of the 4 movies with similar names does he mean?  Anyway, both "The Jason Voorhees Chronicles" and "Cop Killer" cost a lot to make.

Oh Rev' wow, you got it, my names are generic, but different I got the idea readn' porn when I was a kid, you see the same names in every add! Okay, but Cop killer, opposed to Cop killers, or Cop killar, or Cop kill, is a guy on a bike.

This is the real B. okay' real B. the essence of good B is quality story, the artist story, if you will, I exemplify this with a great deal of exspence, touch to the art work, an additive.
