Occidentali's Karma

« on: December 26, 2022, 03:36:13 PM »

After being dumped by her boyfriend and her boss rejecting her new christmas app (her idea was something similar to the Amazon app lol) app developer Amelia decides to spent the holidays where she once grew up: in Christmas Creek, a small resort town dedicated to christmas. She meets up with Uncle Harry she hasn't seen in over 20 years. Uncle Harry is running a successful hotel but has beef with Amelia's father who happens to be jobless. Uncle Harry also flies a plane to drop toys for needy children in a neighbouring town each christmas. Meanwhile Amelia is in a christmas-daze wondering why her app was rejected, constantly walking down memory lane and sorting out Uncle Harry's private life who has the hots for Pamela who owns an Italian restaurant ("Mistletoe Restaurant") serving super-authentic Italian food like pasta Alfredo with shrimp.
There's also Mike, the town's hunk, who seems to have nothing to do other than stalking Amelia 24/7. Mike's niece Scout who admires Amelia Earhart (I didn't make this up) thinks app-Amelia is pretty and cool, but the kid has its own problems - her father is in the army currently in some war zone. Will he make it back in time for christmas? Scout also needs support since she is taking part in a gingerbread house competition.
If that wasn't enough, Mike has to flip the switch to turn on the town's christmas tree lights!

Hallmark kitsch that checks all christmas tropes. Return to Christmas Creek is also very talkative. Everybody looks like they got scrubbed clean for hours before stepping in front of the camera. Everybody is nosy and everybody asks stupid questions. For example we see Uncle Harry decorating his hotel with christmas decoration. Amelia walks up and asks what he is doing.
Amelia, Mike and Harry eat a lot at Pamela's Mistletoe. Hot Chocolate is declared a life saver. Pamela and Harry sing christmas songs at the piano. Amelia picks thin trees for christmas because she thinks they are the puppies of christmas trees. Yeah well. The snow looks fake and there's no breath when the actors speak even though it is supposed to be cold. The ending is a mind bender though, as we see Amelia and Mike flying a plane towards the moon. I kid you not.
Cheesy & dull but fun to make fun of.

Earth is visited by a GIANT ANTIMATTER SPACE BUZZARD! Gawk at the amazingly bad bird puppet, or chuckle over the silly dialog. This is one of the greatest b-movies ever made.
