Well gas is through the roof as I'm sure you know and while we don't like it some of us have no choice in driving. Where I live there is no public transportation and or bike paths. So while I live in the country I find my personal driving is nearly null. I spend $100's every week on gas for the trucks, I filled mine today for the low, low price of $149.00. So when it come to personal driving I've all but cut it out making only trips that I absolutely have to make. Since I'm in the country I make sure I have everything I need before I go home, no more running back into town for a $5 gallon of milk or a $2.50 loaf of bread of it's forgotten. It just has to wait until the next day. Even propane has gone sky high and filling a 1500 gallon tank can cause a small stroke.
So what about you ... have the gas prices changed your life style or daily behavior?

Even though I can drive, I don't own a car, so I don't actually drive at all.  I use public transport or walk everywhere.  As I live 5 kms (3 miles) from the city centre, this is not a problem.

I know that petrol prices are through the roof here.  I think we hit about $1.60 a litre (0.21 gallons) last week which I understand is pricey.  As it doesn't affect me much, I find it hard to be concerned about it.  The only way it impacts me personally is that the bus and train and taxi fares go up, although the city council is slow to pass it onto the paying public. 

I only use a taxi once every fortnight to take my grocery shopping home.  But it costs about $10 to go about 2 kms (1.2 miles), so that's completely outrageous in my book.  It costs about $4 just to get in the damned cab in the first place.   

I don't understand how families with kids and large vehicle can cope.

I've cut back some, but mostly I just try to make sure I have a partner along for any long drives I make for hobby or entertainment purposes . . . I went down to the Houston area, about a five hour drive, last weekend to go arrowhead hunting and I split the gas cost with a friend.

Having been recently laid off and my cash flow slowed to pathetic unemployment payments, my gas guage hasn't gone above 1/4 of a tank in a while.

Gas here is about $3.45 a gallon so I usually put $7-$10 in.
That gives me 2-3 gallons and I can drive on that for about a week.
Of course, driving a Geo Prizm that gets roughly 20-25 mpg doesn't hurt.

I always make sure my tires are well aired and also make sure to keep the oil changed on a regular basis among other things.  Anything to maximize fuel efficiency.

I actually had a related conversation the other day with my neighbor.  Nowadays, I hardly leave town out of pure annoyance of high gas prices. Honestly, if work were closer to me I'd probably bike it.  You have to figure it would combat the gas issue and promote healthy living.   I also find myself not going out of the way as much to get something.  I figure if I'm passing by a store during the week after work, why bother going there on the weekend.

I do have to wonder how Bush expects to restart the economy with people reluctant to go out due to high gas prices.  Perhaps mail ordering things will be the norm from now on until gas prices drop.

I've always shopped a lot via mail order, but I buy more and more online up to and including food. The UPS and FEDEX trucks stop here nearly everyday. I find that with my distant from a town the cost of ordering online and paying shipping is often less than driving 40 miles one way to a larger town to have less choices.

We have a prius (which gets 50 mpg pretty solidly) and a minivan (which gets about 18 mpg or so).

I drive the prius a short distance to and from work four days a week, and combine errands as well as possible, but we live in town and don't have to drive far or often.   Driving out of town, though (for example down to Salem to see my best friend) I notice the gas bills, for sure.

I think it's long overdue that we have an incentive to implement alternatives.

I've been pretty much limiting my driving to just going to and from work during the week and I try to hit the grocery on my way home from work whenever I have to.

Most of my best friends live pretty near to me and we usually just crash at my place on Saturdays to help conserve gas as we're getting killed with the gas price situation.  The less we're driving around the less we're spending at the gas pump.

If gas gets up to 5 or 6 dollars a gallon like some are predicting eventually, I'm just getting a 10 speed bike.

My wife bought a Hybrid that gets about 50MPG I don't much care for it for no other reason than a I drive a 1 ton RAM 4X4 and it's like setting on the ground when I'm in her car. I'm use to looking at the tops of cars, not the undercarriage. But when I go places on the weekend I either drive her car or ride the Harley which doesn't get as good of mileage as her car, just a lot more fun and defiantly cooler. I love my RAM but being a Dodge it's a heavy drinker, cost about $5 just to start it.

WOW Post 2000 I feel so special now ... but we all know what special means.

My wife and I drive about the same...which wasn't all that much to begin with. Her work is only about a five mile round trip, so a tank of gas in her car lasts weeks. My round trip is about 24 miles. That, plus any extra driving on weekends means I fill up about twice a month. Luckily, most places we go are relatively close to home. That, and I work for a fuel distribution company, so I get a few cents off every gallon as a benefit.
