Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!  :hatred:

I hate, hate, hate The Lost World. I hate it because the characters (except Ian, Roland and Eddie) are blithering idiots. And I hate it because half the viewing audience are morons.

I'm speaking of course of The Raptor Theory. That is, the theory that raptors must be the culprits behind the death of the ship crew at the end. It's totally baseless and ignores everything we're shown and told in the movie.

I originally had a long and detailed explanation but I'll just be short and say T-rex was dying of too much tranquilizer so idiot crew gave it too much antidote and it busted free of cage killed everyone and was sealed in hold by final dying crew member. The. End.

No raptors needed. All the evidence is right there. The busted-open cage on the deck, the dead guy holding the door controls, the guard's dialogue about the crew giving it too much antidote, etc. And yet the idea that raptors did it continues to this very day (in fact it was a thread on IMDB that prompted this outburst).

Please, someone, tell me they don't think it was raptors....  :bluesad:

Sorry if I seem like a smartass but I feel like I've spent my entire life trying to debunk the idea that raptors were the culprits....

I'm assuming you are talking about "Jurassic Park II - The Lost World" as there are about a dozen movies and shows called "The Lost World".

Why is it always Raptors? Guess that was just the culprit they decided to make them. Actually I never put that much thought into it .. just I need to watch it again.

My big problem was with the first movie.  Jeff Goldblum (who I normally enjoy) was going on and on and on, preaching about how man shouldn't mess with nature until I had it comin' out of my ears.  Well, the whole damned problem was that Newman shut off the security system.  If not for that, the only thing that went wrong was the dinosaurs hid at the back of their cages so the tourists couldn't see them.
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

Yeah, but only one Lost World has characters named Ian, Roland and Eddie. I guess I should've specified, though.

That's just it. It wasn't raptors. It was the T-rex.

I never thought it was the raptors that did it.  I always assumed it was the T-Rex.  If it was the raptors, then they would have been on the ship as well.

I like all the Jurassic Park movies.  I read the initial book and thought they took a few liberties, but then Hollywood always does that.  I just got caught up in the rapid pace of them all and enjoyed the heck out of them.

True, but I'm old and I can't remember every character name of every movie, that and I haven't seen any of the JP movies in a long time. I'll watch them again in the near future.

Well aren't T-Rex's considered members of the raptor family, or am I missing something. I think I'm just missing something, oh well it happens.

This is possibly the only time I think Hollywood did it better than the author. I enjoyed the first JP, so I picked up the book. I found the book to be ridiculously unbelievable. The T-Rex was a little too prevalent, and it too conveniently turned up whenever a new scare was needed. Also, why would a T-Rex chase two little kids (barely a snack) all over the island, passing up all the nice, tasty, big, slow-moving beasties? Then, I found it funny that Michael Crichton wrote JP II as a sequel to the movie rather than to his own book (if I'm remembering correctly; it's been a few years since I read it).

I didn't fully care for the Jurassic Park - The Lost World.  The characters were too "movie" like and didn't seem realistic to me.  This is true for Ian's daughter, she just seems like a movie kid.

If the T-rex did kill the crew why is it still in the storage part of the ship?  Why is not not running around the on the top part of the ship.  I think it was written that the Raptors did kill the crew but it was taken out of the script and that's why that scene on the ship is awkward.

I did buy both Jurassic Park both, but I still haven't read them yet.

I guess we're supposed to assume the T. Rex ate all the ship's crew but, given the way things are presented, raptors would have made more sense.

T. Rexes are Tyrannosaurs.  Raptors are Dromeosaurs.

It would make more sense, but lets say it did happen then we would need to know what happened to the raptors since they would not just jump in the ocean.

If I remember correctly, JPII bears little resemblance to the movie. Crichton sold out by resurrecting Dr. Malcolm (Goldblum) in his book, when he had clearly died in the first book. I am assuming he had presold the movie rights to Speilberg who wanted Goldblum as the star.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

pjpants

it was the raptors fault that the movies suck when you go back and look at them now
haha jk

this was funny though... not the best one in their catalog but funny

Sadly, I though some of his later books were the same way.  You could thell that he was expecting them to be made into movies and didn't put the same amount of effort into some of them  Particulary PREY.  Haven't had a chance to read State of Fear or Next yet, but they are on my list.

I like both the films and the books.  The movies have great action sequnces.  That being said, even if one of the rumored plot points for JP IV is true, maybe its better that they end with JP3.

At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

Maybe they killed the crew and headed back to the island in a lifeboat, thinking "Oh, man, it's gonna be SO COOL when the humans find all those body parts, haw haw haw."

Heres the problim...the arm was on the ships wheel...which was on the bridge...an enclosed space, with an intack roof, windows, and door way.
So, unless the T-rex could morph like Mr. Fantastic, he ain't gonna get in there, unless he busts the place open...no evidence of that,sooooo?...
