This is all to do with the films we'll be screening in Bloemfontein in July: I just wish the people I supplied the synopses for had told me that they were going to be published as there are some personal observations about each film and the people in them that I should have taken out.  :buggedout:

Kom Saam Vanaand
Jannie Totsiens
Dirkie
Shangani Patrol
Katrina
The Foster Gang
Kruger Millions
Kimberley Jim
Ongewenste Vreemdeling
Lied In My Hart
Jy Is My Liefling
Wild Season

Click on the panel marked "Movies Coming Soon" (use the MORE button) and you should see the above titles.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Jeez, that doesn't sound any fun at all  :teddyr:  What's a film without a little blasphemy?

The filmmakers in SA during the 60's and 70's had to be very careful of what they put on the screen otherwise the massive bum wiping hand of the Almighty Censor Board would give them a smack.  :buggedout: :buggedout:

The film Lied In My Hart / Song In My Heart had two minutes cut out of its' beginning for "bringing the Church into disrepute": all of this for showing a priest going into a bar and having a BEER! BEER! with some of his friends!  :buggedout: :buggedout:

I told Andrew in an email that I had to go through six 35mm prints before I found one that wasn't censored.

My thoughts exactly, allhallows. See my comments on the SA filmmaker Antony Thomas and the film Wild Season: those really should have been taken out. I did edit the phrase "he saw the light only because someone hit him on the head with a brick" but left the rest in. :buggedout: :buggedout:
