I got back from the desolate wastes of Bloemfontein yesterday after a successful film festival and a rather unwanted bout of food poisoning: this from food served in a five star hotel.  :buggedout: As the manager said to me: "Ermmm, it's not really good for business when one of our guests is stretchered through the lobby, screaming, crying, vomiting and then doing it all over again in the ambulance."

The screenings went well, although every time I tried to talk to the audience, one or more of the people there would say the Afrikaans equivalent of "Down in front! We want to see the film!"

Hope all has been well since I left: it is good to be back, me and my underpants both.  :teddyr:

Update: I received an email from the manager of the hotel, apologizing for what happened and that he considers the matter closed. I don't think so, bud.  :tongueout:

Yes, salad.

Good to have you back. Things have been getting kind of slow around here, what with summer and all. We can't afford to lose any of you guys with opposite seasons.  :teddyr:

Food poisoning? What did you eat?

I suppose it could have been worse....

Hey Trevor, that's what happened...?  You were carried out on a stretcher??

Glad to see you back my friend.

Did you at least a discount on the meal?

Welcome back, hope otherwise you had a go time.

Believe it or not, RC: all I had was a $10 steak and fries and a Coke. That's it: two hours later I was in so much agony, I couldn't walk correctly.  :buggedout:

Yup, they carried me through the lobby: the receptionist asked me if I was OK and I said: "No, I'm fine, these medics are just taking me for a joyride in their ambulance. Here's your sign!"  :twirl:

Thanks Cheeze: no, no discount and no apologies from the hotel and resturant manager either.

Welcome back.

Food poisoning is always miserable.  It even comes in different flavors.  My most recent one came from botulism, from what could be diagnosed.  Not pleasant, that.  It also introduces toxins that screw with your perception.  If that's what you had (I don't think it's common from steak), my deepest and most understanding sympathy.

Welcome back Trevor, food poisoning can be scary, no apology or anything from the hotel huh? I worked with a guy whose whole family got it from a Pizza Hut over in Temple City (L. A. county, Ca.) He and his wife are now part owners of the franchise but they had a good lawyer. Glad you're back and that all is well.
