Mofo Rising

Obligatory shot of Helen Mirren.

Also, she's what most would describe as "super crazy," but have you ever seen Sinead O'Connor with hair?

She's actually a very attractive woman. Maybe, "super crazy" isn't the right description. Extremist in her beliefs might be more appropriate. Still, the shallow guy in me thinks she looks hot.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Yech!

Susan, while watching that first video you posted, right before the guy spoke I said out loud, "That's a fu**ing HUGE spider!" and then he said almost the exact same thing.
Lol!   :teddyr:

I wonder what kind of spider that is?
Anyone know?

I'm no expert on spiders, but I'd place it in the Pisauridae family, Genus probably Dolomedes. That would be Raft or Fishing Spiders in English, I think. They get pretty big in the tropics and also belong to the larger ones around here. But record in size goes to the Giant Crab Spider Heteropoda maxima...

Ah, Dolomedes. That would make it a relative of the dock spiders around here. They can get pretty big.

I had one of these in my bathroom sink about 2 weeks back, no idea how it got there!

Earwigs. Yeah, they tend to scare a lot of bug-fearing people. See them all over the place here. I usually just ignore them, but if my wife sees one in the house, I get stuck with the job of executing the intruder.

A far more interesting bug in these parts is the pine sawyer, which is a longhorned beetle close to two inches long in the body. Last month, I happened to spot, out of the corner of my eye, one of these guys landing on my arm, which I promptly shook. Not that pine beetles are dangerous, but they can deliver a pretty painful bite with those wood-chewing jaws of theirs. Fortunately, it landed nearby, where my daughter and I spent some time examining it closedly before it flew away. It looks like this:

Any relation to "Dolomite"?

Raw bacon is GREAT! It's like regular bacon, only faster, and it doesn't burn the roof of your mouth!

SEAN CONNERY is Scottish, as am I. Well go bald and age well ... it's the whiskey and haggis.

We also have the same birth date.

I used to be afraid of spiders, still am, but always save the lives of spiders I find in my house (though if bigger than a pea they are banished to the out of doors.)  Spiders do good work and I want them to prey on them ugly things AndyC posted!!   :drink:
Unfortunately, I think the predator-prey relationship for those two is the other way around.
I think you're right, I think them things give an ugly bite and can be quite large and agressive.  I used to have a problem with them, my primary concern being my dogs I house in the lower half of my home.  But I guess my war on them finished off the dynasty...  :teddyr:   I don't like killing things but there are things I will not tolerate in my house.  Especially if they could hurt my family.

Killed several today while working on a metal roof, they get between the metal and wood decking ... seen the bite up close and personal on a friend of mine ... nasty. So far I've avoided them or I'm immuned to them, which I tend to think I am I've been around to many to have been this lucky ... I'm just not that lucky. Oh found a nest of  baby copperheads today too. It was the extra poison day today.

I've seen nursery web spiders mistake for brown recluses.  Apparently, it happens pretty often, as the two species are very similar and the nursery web spiders can also have the dark area on their back that appears like the recluse.  However, the nursery web spiders tend to be hairy, while recluses are smooth.

Trust me I know recluses, we have ba-zillions of them here, there also called fiddle backs. They get between the siding on houses, behind drywall, under shingles, under tin roofs, behind boards, about everywhere I work everyday. I don't even count how many I kill, but I am cautious of what I pick up and how and look for the little nasty things before grabbing stuff. They are extremely common here.

Now I wanna throw up. A few weeks ago i woke up and saw a huge spider that looked just like that next to me on the bed and i got up half awake and saw it crawl up the pillow and disappear. I happened to be in the middle of a dream so I'm not sure if it was real or a hallucination but it seemed real and the way the cat had been acting weeks after that in the bed - very skiddish and jumpy and leary - i got so paranoid i couldn't sleep. I tore the bedroom upside down looking in every conceivable place to no avail. It's a month later, I still think about it. I tried to explain what i saw, a long legged fairly big spider that was raised up a bit but brownish in color. didn't seem as fat looking or typical of a wolf spider but then I just woke up.

Now that I see what that thing looks like i can guarantee no sleep tonite. I pray to the gods it was a hallucination :bluesad:
