This happened on the 18th August in SA and is truly terrible.

But what makes me angry is that the authorities are now blaming the music this kid listened to (Slipknot) instead of looking at the real issues.

Violent movies and nihilistic music are not going to make a good kid go bad.  However, I do think, under the right circumstances, I do think that a kid who is borderline mentally ill or depressed can be pushed over the edge by listening to too much stuff that glorifies violence or suicide as a valid way of dealing with life.

Ok, so by their twisted logic - if I listen to Ronnie James Dio, then that must surely influence me to run round with a sword and fight dragons!

Hair metal makes me want to watch strippers.  Thats about all music has as an influence on me.  I recall a newscaster after the Columbine shootings saying something like, "The kids involved were known fans of Marilyn Manson".  Can we put it to rest that media violence and all this sh*t isn't to blame for one nut's actions?  I'm sure there were killers in the past who listened to Kenny Rogers.  Did we blame him? 

Oh, and did I mention we need more violence and  boobs on tv.
