What gets me is that 150,000 people crowded around to try and see it, so they had the family put under police guard.

Yeah, Abby and Brittany Hensel are truly remarkable.

I remember first seeing them in a documentary when they were about six and absolutely could not believe my eyes. Watching them in the film run around, shuck corn, turn summersaults, play baseball, ride a bike, etc. I thought it was a clever hoax with some extremely convincing effects.

Apparently it's extremely rare for this type of conjoined twins to live past the first month or so (shared hearts and such) but the Hensels are almost perfectly divided major organ-wise.

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Conjoined twin research!

The Tocci Brothers were similar, but each brother had two arms.
They inspired Mark Twain to write 'Those Extrodinary Twins'.

Some sources state the reclusive Tocci Brothers lived to be 65 or so, passing away sometime in the 1940's.

FYI: There are nude photos of the brothers, revealing the fact they only had one 'thing'.

I've seen bits on them before and find their story enthralling.  Who controls the legs and the arms?  Has anyone ever taken a cat scan of them?  I'm not making jokes either.

Each sister controls one arm and one leg. They have developed incredible coordination over the years to allow them to not only walk, but to play on their school's varsity volleyball team, ride a bike, and now drive a car.

When they were born doctors politely offered to cut them in two so they could be more 'normal'. Astonishingly, their chance of surviving separation surgery as infants was considered fairly high. Their parents declined, figuring they had a better chance to live a more normal life together than as severely handicapped individuals.

Wow, sad about the baby boy doing, but you'd think in that area (where they tend to look upon multi-limb babies as gods), they would have managed to get some donations going once word got out the baby's life was in danger.  (Course, I dunno, maybe they'd feel a god shouldn't need help.)

Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT trying to be callous here about the parent lost (my brother wife lost a baby to miscarriage, so, I can only imagine the pain the parents are going through), but I still have to wonder...
