Looks like Stephen J. Cannell  is serious about making this film.  The director looks to be Stephen Herek (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Critters).

It might not be that bad. It was more of a cult hit, and Cannell has been successful on TV, so the film has a chance.
