Recently there was a remake done of this with none other than Crispin Glover in the title role.

yeah I noticed some 2007 wizard of gore stuff on youtube...not really interested tbh....70s version must be better by default, I think (havent seen either yet tho')

On the plus side, the new one opts for a different direction than the original, thus making it less a remake and more a "re-visioning". It's also directed by Jeremy Kasten of The Attic Expeditions and has a short part for Jeffrey Combs, both of which I was happy about. The acting from the main characters (Kip Pardue and Bijou Phillips) was far from stellar and the dialog feels a little wooden, but overall it was a watchable movie for me. Actually posted a review for it a couple days ago on the Tomb if anyone's interested.

"Don't make me stain my last clean shirt with the back of your head." - Shatter Dead
"A grizzly bear with a chainsaw. Now THERE's a killing machine!" - The Simpsons
"I've always wanted to make love to an angry welder." - Jaws: the Revenge

I have seen the film  WIZARD of GORE...and though it's gore effects are quite cheap and shoddy...it's still very stomach wrenching....another anti masterpiece buy HG LEWIS.
An extremly Stomach wrenching clip....!!! :buggedout:

This is a decent HG Lewis (as far as HG Lewis movies goes).  Not as good as BLOOD FEAST or COLOR ME BLOOD RED, but better than THE GRUESOME TWOSOME or A TASTE OF BLOOD.

The remake also co-stars The Suicide Girls.

You may enjoy 2000 MANIACS as well...my favorite of HG's movies...(it has bluegrass music!)

I'm a little more partial to Blood Feast, but Wizard of Gore is a whole lot of "fun".

Actually, THE GORE GORE GIRLS is also extremely entertaining (Henny Youngman is in it, for goodness sake!)  For some reason, people usually forget about this one when they talk about H.G. Lewis movies.  If you are interested in a REALLY bad (but hilarious for that very reason) H.G. Lewis movie, check out THE MAGIC LAND OF MOTHER GOOSE.  The whole thing is filmed on a very cheap set.  It features a magic show, a psychotic-looking Raggedy Ann type doll, and a ghost they call Casper (but the word "Casper" is distorted whenever someone says it - - according to the Psychotronic Video Guide, this was done because Casper is a copyrighted character - - Lewis was probably trying to avoid a lawsuit).  This movie would only appeal to kids 6 years old or under (and people like us!)  I have a copy on a Something Weird DVD.

Well...you gotta remeber...your dealing with a film maker whose speaciality is focusing...for a LOOOONG time....on extended gore....playing with eyeballs, fondling guts....or as in his earlier films, nudies...ie...focusing on tiittties. Not Orsen Welles or  even Russ Meyer.  This ain't ART. This is EXPLIOTATION. Made by a then already outdated directer.

Intangible Skeleton

It'd be better if it was about Gandalf on crack tearing people into pieces and bathing in their blood.
