Has anyone seen this show? I'd not even heard of it until a few weeks ago, and a friend of mine sent a few episodes. It reminds me of "In Search Of" only in reverse. Alot like Robert Wuhl's "Assume the Position". Apparently there's been 6 season, and since it's on Showtime, there's a decent, although not distracting amount of nudity. What they do is take a subject like Peta, Gun Control, Circumcision, Conspiracy Theories, The Endangered Species Act, and run it through the ringer, with quite a bit of humor thrown in. They even go as far as to rip apart Ghandi, The Dalai Lama, and Mother Teresa in one episode.
Definately one to check out, but be warned: The Circumcision episode is enough to make the toughest guy cringe.

I've tried to watch it a few times, but frankly, even when I agree with them, they annoy the heck out of me.

I saw an edited version as a free preview.  The episode involved those dolphin-worshipping loonies who think they can channel the spirits of the fish to create world peace (Penn makes sure to call them fish rather than mammals, just to p**s the dolphin devotees off).  Overall I liked it; I love debunking.  Not enough to get a subscription to Showtime, though.

I haven't seen the show yet but I do have some of the DVD's in my Netflix queue which the last I checked is pretty far down on the list so it will probably be a while before I to get to them unless at random I just decide to change the queue order and put it up near the top.

I have the first 2 seasons, I love their movies - Penn & Teller get Killed is totally like Bulls**t in movie form. Whilst sometimes they don't come off to well or they manipulate people to get their point across, it's still entertaining, although Penn's voice has started getting to me a little bit.

P&T irk me sometimes but at least they leave me thinking, which is more than most of what's on TV does. A few of their shows in this series qualify as downright public service messages.

I also love these guys. I agree with lots of their stuff, but not all. But they always entertain. Some of the stuff never fails to crack me up. Like in one of the Environmental episodes they show that the protesters are morons who are simply joiners and have no real facts on the issues. They do this with a petition to ban dihydrogen monoxide... or simply put H20 or Water. They never call it H2O or water, just the dihydrogen monoxide. They say it is sprayed on the food we eat, you can wash it many times and never wash it off, etc. Idiots sign that thing left and right and never ask questions.

Another experiment I loved was alternative medicine episode where they went to a mall with fake products and had people test them. Since one of the methods was magnet therapy, they had magnets on them (but they demagnetized them). One was a oven mitt with magnets stuck on it. The person said it was helping and she could feel the effects.  BounceGiggle

I liked the experiments with the bottled water in the fancy restaurant.  And the one where they convince all the young fathers the best way to "empathize" with their new children is to try on adult diapers.  Hehe!

BTM - Sorry, I made myself unclear.  The warning was not to you personally.  I was just trying to add the "Not Safe for Work" warning to the clip because you forgot it.  It's OK to post something like that as long as you label it "NSFW".  My apologies for the misunderstanding.

One of the best ones was their one calling out people that hate Wal-Mart. One couple complained that "Wal-mart was trying to get everyone under the sun, they're trying to be the end-all, be-all solution to everybody", which if I am reading it right, is a complaint over them trying to please their customers. They complained that the workers weren't treated fairly, how the customer deserved more, then went on to compare those same employees to Nazis and Monkeys and even printed out t-shirts insulting the customers, and even went on to insult the greeters for being elderly. Another guy fought and stopped a wal-mart from being built, because "the people didn't want it there". If the people didn't want it there, why didn't he just let it be built, and then go out of business when nobody would work or shop there? The same guy takes them on a tour of the town, and pointed out how many former places of business were empty, this was AFTER he prevented Wal-mart from building.

The best part was that they (P&T) had their OWN pro-Wal-mart t-shirts made, which were modeled by some hotties, who then took them off.

Every time I've watched P&T:BS it was a good dose of thought in the TV desert, but I did recently see them bodyslam Alcoholics Anonymous and claim the program helps about the same small percentage of people who enter it as does going sober alone. They may be right, but you know, a good friend of mine currently in recovery via AA watched that episode and made a worthy point. He attributes his sobriety and the rebuilding of his life and marriage to AA and says that what Penn and Teller aren't getting is the percentage of the population AA helps are usually the sorts who wouldn't be able to go it alone or through other treatments. So while only that certain small percent may respond to AA, that small percent might only get treated through it. It works for some people for whom nothing else works. I think he was right and I think Penn and Teller dropped the ball on that topic by lumping all 12-steppers together.

But what do I know?
