Why oh why!? It's remake time again folks.... :hatred:

Why does Hollywood insist on rehashing old, bad 80s horror flicks to make even worse horror films for airheaded 00er's.
I love NOTD, it's a great, cheesy, gory film. It wasn't a masterpiece, isn't remembered by the majority, but it was what it was. They've changed characters, names, some plot elements.....How can it be bettered? What's the point? Err.........money?

Wow, that looks like a scary old house.....NOT!

"Teen" Edward Furlong (31) makes a run for it with some One Tree Hill, toothpaste commercial chick.

I don't know CC, but that last pic there looks to be what the makers of the film are doing to the rest of us. It's sad when the b-movie community resorts to Hollywood tactics and rev up the remake machine. Like it wasn't bad enough when they started making sequels and remakes of 40 year old HG Lewis movies, now my beloved '80s cheeseball horror flicks are getting it. Hopefully next year's trend will be to start making original crap again instead of just smearing the old stuff on some carbon paper.

"Don't make me stain my last clean shirt with the back of your head." - Shatter Dead
"A grizzly bear with a chainsaw. Now THERE's a killing machine!" - The Simpsons
"I've always wanted to make love to an angry welder." - Jaws: the Revenge

Holy crap. I thought I was a year older than Edward Furlong.

He's almost two years older than me ...

Don't know why that jumped out at me like that.

I haven't seen the original, I'm sure it was probably better. Although this isn't exactly an original movie, it isn't boring and it is somewhat entertaining. Monica Keena from FREDDY VS. JASON is the chick in the torn t-shirt. She's pretty sexy and a decent actress, probably way too good for this movie. I liked that they tried have a few "jump out of your seat" moments early on. But it's almost like they lost intrest in doing that for the rest of the film. WTF happened to Edward Furlong, he looks like somebody's drunk uncle, staggering his way through the film. It was pretty much what I expected, alot of gore and nudity, which I like BTW. Shannon Elizabeth gave the kind of performace we've come to expect from her (we can't all be Oscar winners). Very good special effects. All and all, it was better than I expected. Good effort.

I saw the remake and it wasn't that bad.

But, apart from Angela, I was only so-so on the original. I also liked the soundtrack on the remake.

I'm a fan of the original. Is it a good movie? Oh, not at all. But it is a fine example of '80s cheese.

I will say, there is a fine bit of actual cinema, where the original Angela dances to "Stigmata Martyr." Worked for me, and introduced me to the fine band Bauhaus.

The new movie isn't so good. The first third of the movie is "Ooh, party hounds acting wicked!" Never that much fun to watch. The rest of the movie involves forgettable characters eventually dying.

Really, the only reason I watched the movie is because of the presence of Diora Baird. If you don't think that's reason enough to watch a movie, do a google search on "Diora Baird." I'm not a saint.

Anyway, the movie is pretty bad. The one thing I can say about Edward Furlong is that he is looking these days very much like Smeagol from the intro to "Return of the King." Just with less acting ability.

There is an amusing moment with Linnea Quigley wearing the same outfit she wore in the original. I can't get mad at that.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Wait until you see EF in Darfur, Mofo: it took me a while to recognize him.

I just found the remake on Netflix. It has a 1 star rating out of five. Only the worst crap imaginable is that low.

I LOVE the original ("Eat a bowl of f*$! I wanna party!), so I'm a bit on the fence with this one. As someone pointed out, it's now streaming on Netflix, so I checked it out. A couple of clever nods to the original definitely helped, but it doesn't have quite the same feel or charm of the cheesy original. If you take it on it's own, it wasn't too bad, but when you start comparing (which is hard NOT to do), it definitely starts to be diminished. Lot of nice eye candy though!
Check out my movie reviews and articles at: www.cinedump.com

Or, don\\\'t check them out - see if I care. You\\\'re not my real mom anyway. Unless, you are. In which case, whatever, I\\\'ll do what I want. It\\\'s my hot body. Y\\\'all don\\\'t know me.
