Who Has Deleted My Account?

I was horrified to find out that my account had recently been deleted.

It was obviously not a ban, but I am now typing this as a "guest".

Is there any way to recover my account?

Has it really been deleted?T

(NOTE: The "words of wisdom" spat was a huge series of misunderstandings and a big mess.  Once again, I am sorry.)

I may be wrong here...

There are only two people who can delete an account.

One of those would be Andrew. If he needed to remove you from the board, he would most likely just ban you. I can't say for certain, but I doubt Andrew would delete an account, and he would say so if he did.

That leaves the other person who can delete your account...

...that would be you.

Playing games?

My thoughts exactly.  Moderators can't delete accounts, and Andrew's practice in the past appears to be to ban, not delete.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Congratulations!  You've passed the test! :teddyr:

You even ignored that cryptic Bible quote I posted.

Andrew

Correct, he deleted his own account, and just moments ago attempted to login to the forum as me.  I am banning his IP address from accessing the site.

And so it ends.  I really hoped he had learned his lesson too.

Learning lessons may well be beyond his capabilities; I don't know, though.

MF certainly has issues, though I won't make light of that as it is sad in a way that someone is that way.

I had earmarked MF as a troll, as well as others did, from that first DVD thread that Andrew locked, and his subsequent complaint thread.

MF may have had some creative threads he started on here, but do a search on other forums and you'll find that he just, and many of us do this, took a thread idea from another forum and started it here.

What p**ses me off about this whole affair is that Andrew gave him opportunity after opportunity (a.k.a. patient as hell), and MF did nothing but disrespect Andrew's efforts.

P.S. Being that he is gone, can we relax the word filters so that half of my posts don't consist of asterisks?

You see plenty of teens engaging in troll behavior all over the Internet: for example, posting sexual or racist comments on random youtube videos and imagining they've just shocked the entire world.  I always suspect that the perpetrators are just losers who've discovered it's easier to get attention by annoying people than by impressing them.  The difference with Metropolis was that he actually was capable of impressing and getting positive feedback, so why did he still feel the need to annoy?  He's a smart guy, but his maturity and social skills are lagging way behind his intellectual development.  Hopefully it's just a stage he's going through and he'll eventually become a useful contributor to some community somewhere.

What asterisks, Dr M? Don't see any.

I'm late to this thread, and it seems that everything was answered, but I'd like to note that sometimes it's just plain incompetence -- Andrew will tell you that I've locked myself "out of the house" here more than once without meaning to, and once deleted my own account and avatar, didn't know that I'd actually typed in "I have no idea what this means" in response to an account question & didn't realize it would show up on my posts, and thought someone was flaming me, etc. etc. etc.
I'm allowed to go online . . . but maybe I shouldn't be . . .

Cripes. I haven't even been on the boards for very long and I can already tell the guy was a douche.

And I mean that with the most respect possible. Because he introduced me to the movie Kamillions.
