I'm cool with Splash.  John Candy rocked that film.

I like John Candy in everything I've ever seen of his. I bought the complete SCTV series last Christmas (supposedly as a present for my wife).

Ok how about Beetlejuice.  I love that film and find it hilariously dark and witty.

I won't rain on your parade by saying I hate it. I just find it kind of... OK. I'll sit through it, but I wouldn't stop on it if I were channel surfing.

The Neverending Story, though...never heard anyone hate it, hate certain scenes for certain reasons, but never hate the movie.

As I recall, I hated it. Perhaps if I'd seen it as a kid.

Street Fighter, everyone loves...no...sorry.

Are you talking about the Sonny Chiba version from the 70's or the JCVD version based on the video game.  I haven't seen the SC version which I want to.  The one based on the video game was bad but good in a way.

Have to disagree, it was bad in a bad way.

How about Freddy's Dead the Final Nightmare. It's my fave of the series, it's so bonkers it's impossible to hate.

My head almost exploded from that post! I think if more than a handful of ppl liked that movie, the universe would collapse!  :buggedout: Awful, awful, so bad, it's an abomination type of film.  :bluesad:
Well at least it was better than part 4.  Then again 98% of movies are.

Nightmare Part 2 was the worst. It was incredibly dull...

Ever since this thread got started I've been trying to think of a movie, any movie, that might be a fit answer to the question.  I was initially going to respond with: BAMBI, then I remembered it's not exactly the tops on all parents list because of what happens to Bambi's mum.  Then I was going to say STAR WARS, until I remember that many non-genre fans were very critical of it, and still are.  (And you already nixed it anyway.)  And there's an entire generation of football fans who have a raging hate-on for THE SOUND OF MUSIC, so that's out.  And since DIE HARD has been played to death on cable and I know people who LOVED it that started to despise it.  And even I had the same problem with BACK TO THE FUTURE and GHOSTBUSTERS a few years back.

And I will NOT tolerate having IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE on my TV.  This is a movie that I wish they'd put into a vault and forget about for 500 years.  I don't hate it.  It's just. . . ANNOYING!

RE-ANIMATOR and SUSPIRA are movies that just aren't for everyone. So, the more I thought about it, the more I realized there was only ONE movie that I've never heard anyone say anything hateful about, though some may not care for it because of it's genre.  And what's the ONE movie that I can watch, even with commercials, and almost never tire of?

That movie is. . .

KELLY'S HEROES.

I have to disagree although it was by no means a masterpiece.   I have to say the first one was great but I've always hated the ending.   Part three is my absolute favorite.

A little silly, but any movie with Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy I will automatically tend to like at least a little.

My mom hates Kelly's Heroes . . . Some context:  She had only recently seen Donald Sutherland in MASH, and thought Kelly's Heroes was going to be another comic Altman-esque war story.  Surprise!  Too many tanks, shooting, & dead soldiers for her taste.  She did live through the Blitz, after all . . .
