So here I was, surfing the Amazon.com "Recommended for you" page. The results are based on items you've rated, bought, etc. Some of them are quite hillarious. But as i'm scrolling and deleting I come across a tv show that I haven't even thought about since it went off the air. And yet, I'm pretty sure that I watched it, although i've never seen it in return i've long since forgotten.

I'm a master of voice, i can hear a famous voice and recognize it. The thing is, i can't recognize the fathers voice, but I KNOW i know him.

Mr. DS

Oddly I was never a big fan of this show but I did watch it from time to time.  According to IMDB Susan the guy who supplies the voice of Earl has been in numerous roles on television.

Hey, it's Stuart Pankin!  You might remember him from such made-for-TV movies as THE BRADY GIRLS GET MARRIED and VALENTINE MAGIC ON LOVE ISLAND.

"Dinosaurs" was a pretty good show, actually, once you got past the annoying "Not the mama!" catchphrase.  I hadn't thought about it in years, either.

Stuart's done a lot of stuff, including HBO's Not Necessarily The News, as well as the movie Arachnophobia.

This show was great.  Sherman Hemsley did a character, as did Christopher Meloni, who'd later find fame as Stabler on Law and Order: SVU.

Plus I love that it's final episode focused on the impending ice age and the extinction of the dinosaurs.  The news anchor was reading the weather, like, "Taking a look at the long range forecast: continued snow, darkness, and extreme cold.  Goodnight."  Their deaths were never depicted on screen, just implied.
"The path to Heaven runs through miles of clouded Hell."

Don't get too close, it's dark inside.

OMG, Not necessarily the news. I remember watching that back in 82 or 83. And i haven't seen it since. I'm sure it's on youtube, i'm definately going to have to dig some of that up.

Yes I remember something about the final episode, was there ever an episode that was a dream sequence where one of them drempt they were human or something? It's funny this show is on dvd, i wonder how many hundreds of people actually bought it..lol

One of the best parts of Not Necessarily the News was Rich Hall's Sniglets.

I was aware of it. I remember ads for it. Never watched it.

Never watched ALF either, which my brain is connecting up with this show for some reason. Same era? One seemed like a ripoff of the other? Part of a brief fad of prime time shows featuring puppets?

Magnus

I never really watched Dinosaurs.  When it was aired I was working nights so I never had the opportunity to catch it.

I mean, puppets were used on both, yeah, but other than that, no relation.  I dunno.  ALF was funny.

Dinosaurs was kinda underrated to a degree.  More for adults than it was for kids, it was pretty well written.

I used to watch Dinosaurs all the time when I was kid. I don't think I appreciated the humor that much because being a kid it was cool just to dinosaurs talking.

Hammock Rider

I thought this show was hilarious. What made it even funnier is that my brother, at the time, looked remarkably like the baby dinosaur, even though my bro was in his late teens at the time. To this day if we want to tick him off all we have to say is "Not the Momma".

"Dinosaurs" I watched all the time ... "not the mama!" I have the series on my wish list. It was one of those shows that was so stupid it was funny, it's better than all the reality crap on TV today.

It always struck me as a show made for the stoner crowd, but also had some appeal to the masses. I felt enjoyment of it was night and day when comparing watching it straight or not. 'Alf' seemed the same way to me.

Seems a lot of Muppet/Henson productions have that feel.  Look at Fraggle Rock: It should have been called Ganja Rock.  The Muppet Movie had Kermit on a bike.  What stoner isn't left wondering: "He's a frog man.  How's he riding that thing?  Why's he dating a pig?"
