I had long hair for a while (just stopped getting haircuts and let it grow), but when job hunting a few years back, the place I really, really, really wanted to work at wanted me to cut my hair. So I did, and I got the job. I'm still there and still have short hair, though even if I could grow it long again, I wouldn't. I have far too much gray hair now and I'd look terrible.

I had long hair from being about 14 to 19/20ish, then shaved it all off (had a bit of a breakdown), got a job after no success. That then, turned out to be the worst job I've ever had. I now haven't cut my hair for about 3 years and I am currently in the best job I've ever had.......workin' for the man

My hair's pretty long at the moment but for a good reason ~ in March, the SA Cancer Association has its' annual "Shavathon" where, if you plonk down R50 (about $5) you can have your head shaved for a good cause.

my job requires a clean haircut, so I just shave it every week and a half, its easier and best of all...its free!
