It's a simple question.  How many movies are out there that involve killer ants?  Whether they are the focus of the movies, like Them, or they have at least a single scene involving them, like Indiana Jones IV, I want to know how many movies involving them are out there.  Killer ants are my favorite of all the killer insect movies out there.

Here's the ones that I know of: Them, Empire of the Ants, Indiana Jones IV, Phase IV, It Happened At Lakewood Manor, Killer Ants from Space, Food for the Gods, and Legion of Fire: Killer Ants.  I'm sure there are more and I want to know more about them.

Were there giant ants in "Food of the Gods?" Or, do you mean the 2007 film that I found on the IMDb called "Food for the Gods?"

Does "MANT' count...it was just a 'film within a film' thing in MATINEE...

The film is like a take on William Castle and his films.

I'm talking about the 1976 The Food of the Gods and I thought there was killer ants in that movie.  Maybe I should give it another look....

Well, that does count.  Interesting thing you found.

The Scorpion King has a scene with killer ants, there's also a Sci-Fi channel film, "the Hive" I think, about intelligent mutant ants, they build a computer system and start negotiating with the humans in the film. Another Sci-Fi film, "Marabunta" about army ants in Alaska of all places, is not to bad.  There is also a big budget killer ant movie starring Charlton Heston, Eleanor Parker, and William Conrad, "The Naked Jungle" based on a short story and radio play with the title "Leiningen and the Ants" by Carl Stephenson. It's a pretty good movie and also a great read if you can find it, haven't heard the radio version but that should be good too.

In the 1976 version "Food of the Gods" there are giant, 2 - 3 foot wasps that kill a hunter, his buddies, lead by Marjoe Gortner, get revenge by dynamiting the wasp's nest.

You know years ago I thought this was a good movie, but now I think its a pretty bad film... hehehe

* Total distruction of the area to destroy the ants.

* Charleton Heston (the original Chuck Norris hehehe) is the only one able to run through the ants to destroy the dam, and he able to fuse the bomb with his gun... hehehe

nice pick... :)

I was terrified of the idea of army ants as a kid, probably from one of the movies you guys have already mentioned. Giant ants, feh, that's just made up. But real ants that really exist and march through jungles in huge swarms eating everything in their path? Brrrr.
