It appears that Shia LaBeouf receives a lot of hate.

If you ask me, I personally think it's because he's just a regular guy who got lucky.  And we wish we could've been in his spot and that it was you or I who was "discovered" and not him.

Another part is his name.
He gets cast in all these "studly...leading man" roles but his name sounds like a chick's name.
He's gotta do something about his name.

Why all the hate for Mr. LaBeouf?

I hate him soooooooooo much !  :hatred:

He is a charisma black hole !

At least Nicole Kidman tries to have a personality !
Sure, she fails but she tries.

I wouldn't go as far as the jealousy part, but I can agree that there doesn't seem to be anything special about him. Looks like any guy off the street. Kind of bland. A competent actor but no more than that. He's forgettable, no charisma, no character, and he stars in movies with people who can act circles around him. I don't hate him, but I will say that he doesn't bring a whole lot to any movie he's in. Saw him in Transformers and Crystal Skull, and I can't think of one memorable moment that could be credited to Shia LaBoeuf. Seeing his name on a movie I'm excited about is more of a disappointment than anything else. Well, actually, my reaction to hearing that he would star in Transformers was "Who?"

So, it is puzzling why these plum roles go to someone who is so bland, and not to actors who could really do something with them. I don't wish I was discovered in his place, because I know I don't belong in movies, except maybe as an anonymous thug who doesn't say much. What I have to ask is when LaBoeuf was discovered, what did they think they'd found, and what was it about him that said "potential leading man?"

Now, as far as the name, yes, it does sound like a girl's name. Actually, before I asked who the hell Shia LaBoeuff is, I wondered if she was related to the chick who played Sondra Huxtable. Then I saw that the name was next to Spike/Sam and went WTF?

As names go, LaBoeuf isn't too bad, if you don't combine it with Shia. On it's own, it does sound a bit strippery, but I do like the fact that it translates from French as "The Beef," which would be kind of cool on someone who was more, well, beefy. Still, it makes me chuckle to think of a director yelling out "Where's The Beef?" when Shia is needed on the set.

Never figured out the whole I hate thing with actors and movies.  You don't know these people and evidently someone likes him because he gets work.

I personally don't like expending emotional energy hating someone I don't know and has no relevance in my life other than occasionally being entertained by them.  I feel the same ways about movies, if I don't like it , I don't watch it again, end of story.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

The Burgomaster

He's this generation's Robby Benson.  And I think his name sounds like some sort of meat stew.

FWIW until I clicked on this thread I had no idea this "Shia LaBeouf" person I've seen discussed was a male.  I just assumed it was some really bad actress.  Now, seeing the pics posted, all I can say it. .

Am I the only one who thinks he looks like the actor that played Wesly Crusher in TNG?

So what's this kid famous for?

I didn't know who he was either (still don't, really), although sonehow I knew he was a guy.  If he's been in anything I've seen, I never noticed him.

Mr. DS

Shia ruins everything he is in.  He's the male Sandra Bullock.

Well, he was in that shiny mess of a movie from mega-hack Michael Bay that blasphemed the Transformers of my childhood. And then he somehow won the lottery to be in an Indiana Jones movie. I think he might be more tolerable if he did smaller films. These big over-hyped blockbusters always seem to want someone "safe" these days. Sort of an "everyman" that doesn't overshadow the mile-a-minute computer effects and still appeals to the world market when the films are translated. Didn't he join the young Hollywood DUI club this year too?

Hey, at least Speed wasn't that bad. I can't think of a single film where Shia doesn't suck.
