... signed up for the concealed carry class.  Shot about 150 rounds through my 9mm.  It's been so long since I've practiced, I couldn't shoot for s**t.  I could manage to hit the target, but that's about as far as it went.  My best three shot group was probably on the order of 12".  Couldn't control recoil or muzzle climb.  When I was going to the range regularly, I was able to rapid fire all 17 shots and put them all dead center.

I guess shooting a gun isn't like riding a bike.  If you don't practice, your skills are gone.

I'm the same way, I also went through a CCW course and got my license, before Alaska did away with the need for one. I notice I hold my breath when I haven't shot for a while, which makes my shots get progressively worse, and tends to make me shoot too fast. I have a fairly heavy gun (HK Full-size USP .45), so I don't get too much climb. The .45 does have a different recoil than a 9mm, since the weight and speed of the two rounds kinda offset one another.
Raw bacon is GREAT! It's like regular bacon, only faster, and it doesn't burn the roof of your mouth!
