Another old film

Another good film i remember watching was made around the 80's to early 90's i dont remember alot about this film, and i might get some parts of this wrong as i only watched it once, it was about basketball, a guy finds a rare talented player but in the most unlikely of places, africa i remember the player being realy tall and he only lived in a little village somewhere in africa, i cant remember if he actualy was recrutied or not, now i thought the main actor was Emilio Estevez, but i have went through his filmography and he doesnt seem to have done any film that has anything to do with basketball, but i do remember it looked like him.
