QuoteAn elderly Chinese woman who discovered a snake with a clawed hand protruding from its body was so scared she beat it to death, according to reports.

Xiu Qiong Duan, 68, told the SINA Beijing news agency she woke up in the middle of the night to find the snake clinging to the wall of her bedroom.

"I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound ... at first I thought it was thieves" she said.

"I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw."

Ms Duan, from Suining in southwest China, said she then grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death

Shhh, careful with the 'ol "E" word dude. We don't want to scare any fundamentalist christians, especially those who work in "the media".

I am Christian, but the word doesn't frighten me at all.  I could say why, but I have a feeling we'll all get sidetrack in the long run.  Also, I get the feeling I'll be look down upon, mocked, and scorned if I discuss my reason.

On the topic of the weird snake, this sounds like the opening to some kind of sci-fi movie where a nuclear radiation has been causing problems for the local enivornment and soon, a mutated creature will start causing havoc on a little town.

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.
