Mofo Rising

I saw a bootleg months before the official release, with the more subdued ending.

I hated the new ending, where she kicked him through the door. It ruined the subtle burn of the movie and turned it into a sensationalistic film. That has its place, but I didn't like it with this film.

Other than that, I thought it was great. I made a friend of mine watch it, and she was not happy with me when the girl was dragged from the bed.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

I saw it in the teathers, and I thought it was a huge dissapointement. I was really expecting something very scary, but I didn't get one scare, I thought it bordered at boring. Wich is partially the fault of the way they filmed it, kind of documentary styled. So they can only use one camera, you know the angle isn't going to change, there wasn't much that was visualy scary, so all there's left is noise to scare the audience. And in my case, that was not enough.

BeyondTheGrave

I saw on bootleg around the time it came out. I thought it was ok. Their was some great moments like when she got dragged out of bed but the husband annoyed me to no end. It felt like it was one big joke to him through out the film.

I got this from Netflix yesterday, the wife and I watched it last night, we found it throughly enjoyable and very creepy. While either ending would have worked, I think the theatrical endind is the better of the two. There are a lot of genuinely scary moments is this movie.  We went to bed right after the film ended and when I walked in with the baby powder and made like I was spreading it on the floor my wife said "Oh you're real funny!"

I just finished watching this.

An one thing stood out for me...

SHUT THE DOOR !!!!!
I guess the idea is that he is trying to see if there is anything in the hallway but even so....

Is it my imagination or did you see the shadow of the monster on the door at one point ?

No real plot and a boyfriend who falls into horror movie cliche mode, but good fun at times.

watched this the other week on DVD. I was impressed. thought it was the definition of an 'effective little shocker'. obviously it's been hyped up beyond belief so anyone expecting the scariest film of all time will be disappointed, but that's not the film's fault. it does what it needs to do and gets the hell out, job done. and I definitely prefer the harsher ending they used, to the 'alternate' one.

good point. maybe they need to do a re-shoot with a cameo role for Larry Grayson  :teddyr:

also the medium spirit guy they call back to the house when they're worried - he takes one step in the house and says he has to get out because he can detect a negative presence, and that is not his area of expertise...but surely if he can detect it immediately then it is his area?

Actually a few times on the door. And it was rather freaky.
