I will never again believe it when someone tells me the recession is hitting the well to do as much as main street.  this isn't to bellyache about rich people.  After all, look at the tip the waiter/tress got!

I seriously have to wonder about a place that charges someone $12 for water and $27 for cappachino. Granted I seriously have to wonder about someone who pays that much for either as well. Seriously, for what they paid just for water, expresso, and cappachino alone, they could of bought a machine somewhere and made all they wanted at home or had their servants make it for them at least.

And somewhere along the way, I'm sure federal stimulus money was used to pay this bill.

Actually, $9 - $12 for a bottle of water is not unusual for many of the better restaurants in Boston.  I'm sure it's the same in New York.  It's the $35,000 they spent on wine and/or champagne that mystifies me.

Ouch! Here in Alabama, we would never pay that much for a bottle of water. Whiel I am sure Boston has to be a great city, personally I would hate to live in a town where things cost that much. Granted I never understood why items cost up to 5 times as much in large cities like Boston, LA, or NYC compared to where I live. I swear you guys are getting royally screwed.

Well, most "main stream" restaurants don't charge that much.  It's mostly the high-end steakhouses and gourmet restaurants who charge outrageous prices.

Whenever I receive a restaurant bill with the tip automatically added on, I make sure to say (very loudly), "Too bad they already added the tip . . . I was planning to give more."
