This singer, one Ras Dumisana, must have taken just too many puffs from a spliff before he attempted to "sing" South Africa's national anthem.  :buggedout:

There was a really similar situation in Hungary too. The singer, Király Linda didn't know the national anthem.
I know what it's like.

I honestly think it is something that is going to happen to every nation's national anthem. Someone is always bound to hire someone who either doesn't know it, can't sing, or wants to changed it under the guise of artistic interpretation. The results are the citizens of that nation is are annoyed with the singer because national anthems are a strong source of national pride for many. While I can somewhat forgive a person who has no talent for singing if they make it sound horrible singing in a crowd and overlook an amateur for not knowing the words to it. However I can't stand professionals who don't know the words and/or deliberately sing badly for any reason other than illness/injury. And lets not get started about artistic interpretation. I don't mind artistic interpretation of most songs but a nation's anthem is one not open for it.

That bugs me too.  Every professional signer has to make some show-off piece out of the national anthem.  It always sounds horrible and unmusical, but I guess it's supposed to be impressive.

That's odd that she was just standing on the ice.  They usually put carpet or something of the like on the ice for the singer to stand on.
