Explorers (1985): After a great build-up largely it seems inspired by 1950s style Sci-Fi, the film's big reveal of its alien proves a tremendous disappointment. I was truly expecting something much closer to the inspiration for the film's first half.

The Mist (2007): There are moments when this one is pretty cool especially it's monsters hidden in the fog motif but this film's ending is so nasty it pretty much ruins the whole film.

The Matrix triology kind of went out with a fizzle didn't it?  I don't think I ever watched the last one in it's entirety. I just totally lost the plot in the second one so I figured why go on.

There are only two reasons to watch the third Matrix movie.  And here they are
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

Monster A Go-Go: I never seen such a disjointed ending that just left me frustrated.  It made no sense whatsoever!

Robot Holocaust: The film just sort of peters off leaving too many unanswered questions left and basically leaves us wondering what the hell?

Shark Swarm:  The ending sort of wraps up some conclusions for some of the main characters, but leaves way too many plot points unanswered.  Does the town forgive the main character for the trouble they caused him; does the sheriff give get in trouble for corruption; does the bay ever get cleaned up; and does anyone ever finally noticed that over 20 people were killed before the major shark slaughter?!

Teenage Ninja Turtles 2: I can't believe they were serious with just having a bunch of wood kill Shredder, when a garbage compacter couldn't before!

yep, I forgot about that one. They should have just stuck to the book.

I liked that ending.  It was a good twist in my view.  the ending in the book just felt a little too open ended.  I sort of like a conclusion the stories I read... execpt with Uzumaki.  I'll never expect that ending!  Book or movie!

When I first saw the movie, I hated that ending.  I left the theater feeling like I had just been punched in the stomach.  But now, I can appreciate it because it's not a typically hollywood ending.

Others : The ending of "Mystic River".

I watched this movie and seriously couldn't figure out what the point of the whole thing was.  Then the ending which kind of wrapped up nothing really put me over the edge.

Deadly Friend.  I didn't expect a whole lot out of the film, thank goodness, but the ending was just so moronic.  How does she turn into a robot???  It's only her BRAIN that is screwed up.  Wes Craven, I should p*ss on you while you sleep.

The original FINAL DESTINATION had a light, humorous ending that just ruined the ominous, brooding nature of the film.

They had a different ending originally that would have ended the series, but no!  They went with the total obvious and somewhat rushed ending.

I've never seen this film, partly because someone told me that they changed the hopeful ending of the short story to a horrible one.  :buggedout:

City of the Living Dead (1980)

Can't decide if its stupid or a stroke of genius.

Is that the film that ends with the words "And the nightmare becomes reality" ?

I believe the one he's referring to is the Fulci movie that ends with the two leads coming out of the crypt, are greeted by the annoying little kid of the movie, and it ends with the leading lady screaming while the kid runs in slow motion toward them.  There are many interpretations to the ending.  Some say they went crazy because of what they went through, and others say that they failed to prevent the dead from coming, and the woman was screaming because she witnessed a zombie rip the kid to shreds (off screen, of course; I did notice a subtle shadow fall over the kids face before the screen dimmed, but that could just be part of the set).

I think the one you're thinking of, Trevor, is City of the Walking Dead.  Yeah, terrible that two Italian horror flicks have such similar names.  I think that's the reason CotWD is referred to as Nightmare City in some versions.

I loved this ending because it goes against the grain of everything Hollywood stands for.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

I love the ending of Mystic River.  It's such a downer because Bacon knows he can't do anything to stop Penn, who seems to have control over everything in his neighborhood.

Three movies where the stupid endings make the films great are Pieces, Sisters of Death, and Christmas Evil.
