Do You Have "The Groove" (aka The Funk)?

Mr. DS

Whenever I drive our family car I put it on satellite radio.  Lately I find myself on "The Groove" which plays a lot of classic funk tracks from different decades.    I've always enjoyed a funky groove in songs whether they be METAL, R&B, etc.   This station more or less specializes in the R&B side of things and they seem to play a lot of 80s stuff like;

(b!tches)

This stuff takes me back to a cooler time in music.  Do you have "the funk" or in satellite radio's case "the groove"?  What are some of your favs?

Great clips, Retrorussell, I enjoyed watching all of them.  I think that SPINNERS record is a stretch for FUNK.  Okay, okay, it does kind of meet minimum criteria (and I have no problem with any great R&B record that I don't ever need to hear again :wink:)
BROTHERS JOHNSON is certainly more Funky, but that's really Disco.  I hear the Funky thing in PATRICE RUSHEN too (embedding disabled) but that's still kind of Disco I think.

Here's some Funky sh!t for you.

Okay, don't mind me guys, I have strong opinions about music and enjoy expressing them.  I like all types of music; but also am interested in "schools" and years and labels and producers...
How 'bout this one, labeled Soul... Is this Funk?

Thanks for the props on the last picks, AHD!
I guess when I think of "Funk" I think of more busy music than, say, the "Be Thankful For What You Got" song.  That's definitely soul to me.  Funk, to me, has lots of bass, lots of "Uh!" or "Hey!" or "Yow!", just like James Brown.  I think he should have been called "The Godfather Of Funk".  I definitely believe the other vids qualify as "funk".
Bootsy time!

Well, it does have a lot of bass.  We have different impressions of what might qualify for Funk, though "Be Thankful For What You've Got" is considered a Soul record.  My point is labels sometimes are inadequate.  I definitely think your latest offering BOOTSY'S RUBBER BAND is Funk.

I understand your points completely.  This is funk too.  But it's their ONLY funk song!
