Do you have a "bad movie sense"?

I was sitting in front on my computer in my computer room when my wife turned on th TV in the living room and started watching a movie. Before the opening credits could even start I was in the living room sensing a bad movie was on. And not even a good bad movie but one of those sappy Lifetime movies which make people want to puke. She asked how I even knew she was watching that particular network when I told her, "My bad movie sense was tingling and there was a sudden smell of crap coming from the room."
This is not the first time I ever did this. Anytime someone sits down in another room in my home and starts watching a bad movie, I seem to be able to tell even without ever seeing the movie before that a bad movie is starting. Which makes me wonder if my fellow fans of bad movies can do this. Have many of us seen enough bad movies to have developed a "sixth" sense that can detect a bad movie or at least the appearance of one due to our knowledge of how many bad movies begin?

Simpson was considered for the title role in The Terminator, but producers feared he was \"too nice\" to be taken seriously as a cold-blooded killer.
Isn\'t hindsight great.
A person is smart. yeah no.

Not really. I have more of a foresight ability that tells me that sort of things when I pick up a random DVD for a Used Bin.

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

I can detect a movie that is going to be bad FOR ME in the same way you are talking about, but that usually just means that nearly EVERYONE ELSE will like it!

Yeah, more times than not it's the credits that give it away. There doesn't have to be a pre-credit scene or any accompanying music. The easiest way to spot it is the title card and the font used. You can notice the quality of screen froom a black background - add that with some sort of big white typed text or yellowisg courier style and bang, crap film that's made for TV or went straight to DVD.

yep, anytime my husband has control of the remote.

Certain music can perk my interest in a film. Particularly the dark ominous sounding tracks.

Sort of. I can usually tell if a film is going to suck or not from the opening credits. But then again, I could just be quick to judge.

The music and opening credits presentation often clues me in. Especially older movies. If the music is VERY Casio-like and the credits font is cheesy or appears onscreen in a goofy way your chances of good viewing just took a dump.

Since I don't watch TV I can't sense a bad one when its on. But back in the video rental days I could sense a bad movie based on the company that released it. Which wasn't really hard because the cheaper the label, the cheaper the movie. Companies like Academy, Wizard, Lightning, Gorgon, Imperial, Prism, TWE, United Home Video and many others only released crap mostly :teddyr:
It's a bit harder to detect bad movies at the rental place these days but there are still plenty of obvious signs that scream "this is bad!".

Yes, like "directed by Peter Jackson," or "starring Nicholas Cage," for example.

The only movies I find myself exposed to are the ones I choose on my own to watch, so in general, this wouldn't really apply to me.

But watching trailers, I'm fairly accurate, though the people I know in SCA refuse to admit it. I remember seeing Avatar's trailer, and my thoughts have been echoed by most of those who have seen it: "Wow, this looks really pretty, but they don't have much of a story." I like that it is now called "Dances With Smurfs" by many people.

I'm told that I just hate everything because I give so many thumbs down to trailers. But I feel good when even genre critics back me up.

Any movie which exploits the Producer's name. Like, "Quentin Tarantino Presents..."
