BIBLICAL PIX ~ Which do you enjoy? Which don't you?

The one I've watched and enjoyed the most was The Ten Commandments but I also enjoyed The Greatest Story Ever Told quite a bit too. I liked on some level Sodom and Gomorrah (1962) and Abraham (1994) but think they are lesser films than many others mentioned here.

Watched much of KING OF KINGS (1961) tonight.

Mofo, is Last Temptation of the Christ worth it to watch?  I'm sorta curious to see it...

I thought it was great. It does take a different approach, and is quite eerie at times.

The soundtrack by Peter Gabriel is pretty classic, too.

This is a subject fraught with peril.

I thought The Passion of the Christ was a very poor retelling of the passion play.

About Gibson's Passion film, I know Satanists and Christians alike who love that film.  I watched it with my mom last Easter and I thought that it was... okay.  Really, I wasn't disturbed by it, and, at least then, I considered myself a Christian.  I guess it could be good as a teaching tool, and maybe a scare tactic by some churches.

Mofo, is Last Temptation of the Christ worth it to watch?  I'm sorta curious to see it...

The Passion of the Christ is part is a well-made film, but it is part torture porn.

I saw The Last Temptation of Christ on opening night in Hollywood, standing for 45 minutes in line next to Warren Zevon while Christian groups and counter groups yelled at each other and performance artists did some rather bizarre and offensive displays. Fun times.

I liked The Passion Of The Christ a lot more than I expected mainly because I'm not the most religoius person in the world, but I thought it was well done. I could understand the "torture porn" comment though.

Here's a peek at THE SILVER CHALICE (1954) which is a must-see not for the fact that it's PAUL NEWMAN's first film-but because it's so bad, it's good... stagey, forced, bizarre junk, this clip is the highlight of the film, JACK PALANCE, wearing Riddler tights, "flies"...

These segments are long, but it's the very end when PAUL NEWMAN is leaving on the boat... and Peter or whoever he is gives him "The Speech" which booms across the water... starting about 5:45 minutes into the clip...    "...the little cup will look very lonely..."
