I feel like a truck hit me

Got a case of the flu right now.  Either Katie or Garrett gave it to me -they had it prior.  The bad thing about this strain is that you feel exhausted after very little effort, and if you use any muscles then they ache.  I mean, it feels like I did a heavy duty workout and didn't get all of the lactic acid out of the muscles.  Just driving in the car for an hour or so made me feel like a 90 year old man when I got out.

Slept for several hours after I got home today, and now I'm having some easy food (yogurt, mashed potatoes, bread) and water.  The good thing is that Garrett and Katie were miserable for 3 days, and recovered quickly (except for a sore throat that hangs on for a while).

Mr. DS

Best of recoveries to you sir.  I recall having a flu similar like that once back home and it literally just about wasted everyone in the house.  I recall that I slept for 24 hours one day.

Whoa! When I read the subject I thought you were gonna say "because one did"!  I hope you feel better!

I hope you get better soon!  Best of luck!

I don't think I've ever had a flu that bad. I feel very lucky.

Rest well, Andrew! Hope you feel better soon.

Dr Trevor's remedy for flu:

1. I mug of ginger ale or ginger beer.
2. I microwave.
3. Heat up ginger ale / beer
4. Drink hot while in bed.
5. Sweat like pig during the night.  :buggedout:
6. Next morning, flu almost gone.
7. Repeat until flu has gone.

That must suck...
As a therapy, I would suggest you watching a lot of bad movies (not painful ones, that would only make it worse).

Get well soon!

sorry to read that you're not feeling well.  hope you you get well in a few days

Get well soon Andrew!  Our kids infected us with some bug a while back.  Wasn't very severe, but it laster a lot longer than 3 days.

yeah no.

Thanks everyone.  I went to bed and slept for about 10 hours.  Still miserable, but at least everything doesn't ache now, just a couple of spots.  Last year around May I actually got the swine flu, and that bug is awful.  You ache for days, you run a high fever, and your gastrointestinal tract is in an uproar - and it took me 3 weeks to feel better.  Brutal, brutal thing.

I have never been hit by a truck, but have been hit by a car.  I was cycling through Washington DC when the car hit me.  Saw it coming and went with the hit.  I ended up on the hood of the car, covered with white oxidized paint because it was an older car.  The driver, a male, was not looking at me.  The passenger, a female, was freaking out.  A large number of bystanders on the sidewalk were gawking.  I waved at the driver and yelled, "Hi, how are you?  WHY AM I ON YOUR HOOD?"

My bike got the worst of that one.  Cracked the handle shifter bad, bent a pedal, and some other pretty minor damage.  Amazingly, both wheels and the frame were fine.

Get well soon.

I haven't had the flu or any kind of cold this season yet which worries me a bit. I usually get hit once or twice between October and April.
