Technically every team on the list dominated in a particular area. Blondes - WCW, Vachons - Montreal & AWA although technically they also won tag titles in Calgary and the NWA (Georgia & the Pacific Northwest), Doring & Roadkill - ECW, Eliminators - ECW, Briscoes - ROH. To me personally, the Blondes were too short-lived as impressive as they were, Doring & Roadkill never struck me as top dogs even in ECW, Eliminators were impressive but it's interesting only Saturn made it as a singles guy while the Briscoes are perhaps the best team in ROH history but ROH is basically a glorified indy so that leaves the Vachons as the best, most long-lasting and most dominant team on the list. The Vachons are former AWA World Tag Team champions (holding the titles from Aug. 1969 to May 1971) back when that really meant a lot after Mad Dog formed the team with his brother following 5 singles AWA World title reigns.

ECW was basically a glorified Indy, it could be argued.  At least, in it's initial stages.  Once the pay-per-view started, and they got some foothold, they moved beyond the strong Philly/Jersey/Delaware/New York fanbase that kept them afloat.  ROH is making some strides in terms of moving beyond the Philly market, having a national dvd distribution, some pay per views, some kind of tv, etc.  Personally, I was a big fan of ROH it's first few years, when they only had a local Philly show broadcast here, featuring the likes of Chris Daniels, The SAT, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Raven, The Briscoes, and CM Punk, amongst others.  I see them occasionally now, but I like the recent upstarts CKIKARA and DragonGateUSA much better.

I like Doring and Roadkill, but, as you said, they were never really dominant as a team.  They worked well together, so I initially voted for them.  But, compared to the others, they didn't really last, so to speak.  Although, both are gifted wrestlers, and I would've loved to have seen them get a shot in WWE back in '00 or so, when WWE had a decent enough tag division.

Jase, you mentioned Perry Saturn's solo success.  Just wondering what's come of Kronus...haven't heard anything from him in years.  He pass away or anything?  That sounds terrible, but so many wrestlers die so young that I kinda had to ask.

From Wikipedia:

" [George] Caiazzo (John Kronus) was found dead in his fiancée Brandy Laundry's home in Laconia, New Hampshire on July 18, 2007, several days after he had undergone knee surgery. He was 38 years old. Caiazzo died in his sleep, with his death subsequently attributed to heart failure resulting from an enlarged heart. He was survived by his nine-year-old son, Gage Christian Caiazzo"

He wrestled from 1989 to 2002 when he retired. He made a brief return in 2005 but I believe injuries caught up with him and he was forced to retire. He started out as The Eliminator and eventually started teaming with Saturn in Memphis where they won the USWA tag titles. They also competed in Japan (WAR) before ECW. After Saturn went to WCW, he wrestled singles and then teamed with New Jack to win the ECW Tag titles in 1997 before moving to XPW in 1999.

Hmmm.  Must've slipped under the radar.  I didn't hear that news at all.

Anyone seen the stuff from CZW, ROH, CHIKARA, or DragonGateUSA?  Some great underrated talent there.

I've seen lots from ROH but I'm not so familiar with the rest. Would like to see some more of the indies especially DragonsGate and the ladies independent SHIMMER. Oh and the NWA too.

DragonGate is really good.  A lot more in the way of a Japanese and Mexican style, with more Japanese and Mexican wrestlers.  There's a few good up and coming American wrestlers in the mix to add the "American" style as well.  So if you're interested in more technical based, high flying styles, it's worth checking out.  I haven't seen the NWA in a while.  They used to have a tv show here, but not anymore.

CZW is an okay promotion, not as great as it once was, but still have some decent wrestlers.  It's more of an 'ultraviolent' promotion, with a lot of "1,000 Light-tube Matches", "Cage of Death" Matches, "Flaming Table" matches, but with some technical wrestling thrown in the mix.  The only difference between it and ECW is, basically, wrestlers there are a bit younger who haven't made a mark, and yet haven't made a 'connection' with fans.  Not as good at 'working' and more focused on 'spots'.
