Low budget, high effort

Judge Death

We've all seen some little movies that obviously had low budgets but still looked good or had good elements because the cast and crew worked hard on them to produce as much as they could with what little they had.

I'd like to name a few and see if anyone else has any nominations:

"Frankenstein unbound": Low budget but still looked good for the time it was made.

"Galaxy of terror" Decent acting, good ideas, big vision.

"Planet of the vampires" Italy's only good SF movie.

"Zardoz" Possibly one of the few movies to he hurt by having too many good ideas in it.

Rev. Powell

A couple independent movies that I thought succeeded on even lower budgets than those:

INK (2009).  Very low budget but they did a great job invoking a Terry Gilliam-type dream universe.

ELEVATOR MOVIE (2006). I have no idea how the director could have spent $25,000 on this; looks more like $2500.  Two characters, one set, works as a cult movie because of the great perverted script and low-budget bizarreness.

I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Clerks

think I'd be right in saying they filmed all the scenes in the store at night because one of them knew the real store's owner and he let them fim there after they closed each day, might be wrong.

I'm not sure if it was intentional (that longish bit where they drive to the funeral suggests it maybe wasn't) but the movie really gave the impression of having been mostly shot on security cameras, which I liked.

OUTPOST looked pretty good for no bigger than its budget was.
EVIL DEAD - don't know if anyone here has read Bruce Campbell's book, If Chins Could Kill, but he describes just how creative they had to get in the funding and making of that movie.  Good stuff.
