Below are three (3) great Party records.  These are the kind of records everybody can listen to, not some hard Rock, or unusual  cultural expression, or some Artsy nod... What are your three great party records?

MALCOLM McLAREN Duck Rock

SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE Fresh

LES PAUL & MARY FORD  Warm and Wonderful/Swingin' South  Really, 2 LPs in one CD.

first 3 albums that came into my mind...

Doggett

Sheryl Crow - All I wanna do.

Levellers - What a Beautiful Day

Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight

If God exists, why did he make me an atheist? Thats His first mistake.

no offense Doggett but if that levellers tune came on I would have to promptly exit the party :teddyr:

(like I get invited to parties anyway, eheh)

I llike Sheryl Crow though. 'If It Makes You Happy' is another good one  :thumbup:

I like SHERYL CROW too, and do get invited to parties, but usually nobody interesting turns up...which I think leads me back to my originating thought... Party records aren't so easy to identify... what might everybody like?
You are a sweetie, but, you must know that.  How 'bout some PINK?

retrorussell

3 non-comp albums I could enjoy anytime..

Boston's debut;

AC/DC's Back In Black;

Led Zeppelin 4;

and 3 best of's:

"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

Newt

I hope retrorussell invites me to that party.   :teddyr:
"May I offer you a Peek Frean?" - Walter Bishop
"Thank you for appreciating my descent into deviant behavior, Mr. Reese." - Harold Finch

Doggett

I don't think Pink is such a bad idea.

I'm not a big fan, but I certainly don't don't mind her. Her tunes are fun enough to create a party atmosphere.

I think.

I've never been invited to a party.  :bluesad:

Assuming you're talking 'parties' were upon the music acts as sort of 'background noise' while people spend the night talking, etc, and not as a 'dancy' type party, I'd have these:

Time Flies: The Best of Huey Lewis and The News

40 Licks- The Best of The Rolling Stones

Best of Bowie by David Bowie

Seems like 3 odd pairings to most people, but they generally work, as there's a good helping of songs that are a bit of songs that are good 'rock out' style fast songs, and others you can kick back and have a few drinks to.
"The path to Heaven runs through miles of clouded Hell."

Don't get too close, it's dark inside.
It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide.

The Burgomaster

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Allhallowsday

3 records for a party...

I think maybe too much Rock, not that I personally would have a problem with any of the selections, but imagine a perfect party, where the music can be listened to or ignored...

CAL TJADER Soul Sauce

SERGIO MENDES & BRASIL '66 Look Around

STAN GETZ and JOAO GILBERTO Getz / Gilberto

You picked a few good selections in this last post.  I have a few floating around in my head, but narrowing it down to 3 is a problem.  Believe it or not, I like Sergio Mendes...shocking, I know. :buggedout:

I have the GREATEST HITS cd.  Excellent stuff.

I agree the HITS are excellent (I have that one, too).  But, Look Around is probably MENDES' finest hour, and it's pleasantly bouncy for a party-like atmosphere.

There's nothing shocking about your selections or taste.

I have the album EQUINOX by Brazil 66, it's really good

apparently they got their name because they were originally only going to do promotional music jingles for the Brazil world cup team in 1966 but then they carried on making music after. (could be wrong but I think that's right)
