Name of a movie about a fellow finding himself in hell

Years ago I saw a film about a fellow driving down the road in a hot rod - he takes a wrong turn and finds himself in hell and the film is about his adventures there - it is a comedy - at one point in the film there is a paving crew who are paving a road with people who had "good intentions"  and the end of the film the fellow does get back onto the road he was travelling on - I know its not much to go on but maybe someone has a memory. Thanks
