Just finished what has to be one of the cheesiest, most awesome SYFY originals ever.  You could definitely see the hand of B-master Roger Corman at work - cheesey dialogue, impossible monster, bikinis EVERYWHERE, and screams and roars being transmitted underwater!  I LOVED this movie!  My favorite line:

"Oh, Pez!  I could just hug you . . . if you were more attractive and practiced better hygeine!"

Who else caught this epic hunk of cheese tonight?
"I shall smite you in the nostrils with a rod of iron, and wax your spleen with Efferdent!!"

As cheezy as it was, it was watchable which has to put it above 95% of the other Sci-Fi original movies.

What should the sequel be called?  Mega-Sharktopus Versus Super-Dino Gator

There's a creep show creature with a double feature
A freakish beast wants flesh to feast
A twisted fish eats surfers as a side dish
When you see the frenzied feeding you will be the next bleeding
Sharktopus won't be kept at bay
And you can never ever ever get away
So swim on over don't ya scream and shout
He'll getcha baby without a doubt

I heartily agree!

Definitely a cut above (below?) 99% of the other SyFy dreck of the past few years. It had lots and lots of prime cheesy Sharktopus action -  a problem with most of these films is limited screen time for the lead monster and way too much meet-cute stuff with the unappealing leads.

Best theme song (by The Cheetah Whores!) since THE GREEN SLIME, too.

Did anybody else catch Corman's great cameo?

Wow.  High praise indeed!   Now I want to see this gem (I will admit it was the theme song comments that sealed it!)
"May I offer you a Peek Frean?" - Walter Bishop
"Thank you for appreciating my descent into deviant behavior, Mr. Reese." - Harold Finch

Newt, if you haven't heard it - this trailer features the song:

That was certainly a fun cheeseball of a movie  :teddyr:  That female reporter was pretty darned hot too.  Oh, and there was that sharktopus thing as well!

the last scene in the trailer is cool
and kinda remind me one Korean film called The Host

Corman is a very intelligent man and very well versed in films. He was responsible for many foreign films, including those of Igmar Bergman, being shown in the USA.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if he was at least a teensy-weensy bit inspired by THE HOST for this.

Yeah!!!
Corman is a respectable man,
he had been doing movies for decades!
[I'm going to order battletruck/death sport and Humanoids From The Deep soon]

I think every monster/bad movies like The Host is more or less inspired by Corman's works

Honestly, I liked it, but it can't top "Mega Piranha" in it's sheer awfulness and eventfulness. Then there's "Shark Attack 3" with the famous shark devouring boats and jet-skis, and "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus"-- which is boring for the most part had the shark attacking the aeroplane scene, and I think it's hard to top that in outrageousness .

You know, I bet a "Neo-Corman vs Asylum" SyFy movie debate could be interesting!

My annoyance with the Asylum films is they usually contain very little 'monster action' while Corman's latest flicks deliver quite a bit bang for the buck-fifty.

SHARK ATTACK 3 was great, though, whatever studio the heck made the thing..

This film is classic Roger Corman, goofy looking monster, lots of pretty girls in bikinis, mediocre acting, very entertaining. It would have been a big money maker on the 1950's - 1960's drive in circuit. It just occurred to me, that's what the SyFy Saturday movie is, the 21st. century equivalent to a mid 20th. century drive in theater, which is why I watch the movies they show, usually pretty bad, sometimes painfully so, but also usually fun to watch, and the price is right.

Yeah, Mega Shark VS Giant Octopus was AWFUL though.  It had that one good scene and that was it.  I saw the climax of Sharktopus last night, and that alone had more entertainment value than all of MSVGO.  CG was about a billion times better too.  I think I might check out the full film.

The Bungee Jump scene was my favorite!!!

Personally, I loved it.  Some of Roger Corman's best work in years.  Between this and Mega Piranha, SyFy has really been improving on their b-movies.  Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus was bad, but had some redeeming qualities.  With these gems, The Room, Birdemic, and Piranha 3D, it is a good time to be a b-movie fan!
Well, whatever it is your not doing, go don't do it somewhere else!
