Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Will Elude Kiss for 11th Straight Year
Kiss loyalists, long the butt of rock-critic jokes, have a new reason to be rankled: the artists listed on the Hall of Fame's 2011 ballot, which was announced this morning, include the Beastie Boys, Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Donovan, Tom Waits, LL Cool J, Dr. John, the J. Geils Band, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, and Chuck Willis. The Beastie Boys got a nod in 2008. Nyro, LL Cool J, and Summer were all nominated last year. Kiss is conspicuously absent, yet again...

Sucks for KISS, but that's not a bad ballot really.  I'm a little surprised Alice Cooper, Donna Summer and Neil Diamond weren't already members, to be honest.
Just goes to show that placement in the RR HoF is about as credible as any other entertainment award.

Wait a minute, I thought WE were deciding The Music Hall of Fame.

There's another one?  That matters?

Me, personally would like to see Kiss in.  I'm not a huge fan but I do like some of their songs.  And they should be in before Bon Jovi.

I would like to see Beastie Boys get in there this year.

What surprises me is that Rush aren't in either, apparently. :buggedout:

I'm not a big Kiss fan. Rock and Roll all night is about the only song I like. But, even I recognize that they belong in the Hall of Fame. There's way too many influential rockers that aren't in the HOF. The shameful part is people like Jackson Browne and Madonna are already in. Not that they shouldn't be in. Just not before real rockers.

I did celebrate my 50th B'Day by going to the Hall of Fame. The Springsteen exhibit is excellent. But, the coolest thing they have (and it's in front of the building) is Johnny Cash's personal tour bus. It's pretty neat.
