Killpoint (1984)

Special agent (Leo Fong) is investigating gang-related shootings with weapons sold by crime lord Joe Marks (Cameron Mitchell).

Leo Fong's greatest cinematic achievement was ... nothing. I had to double check IMDb to see if I was missing something. Like, some martial arts Leo Fong movie status in Asia that I was not aware of but nope, Mr. Fong did none of that. His claim to fame was training with Bruce Lee on a regular basis which resulted in a few no budget movies together with Cameron Mitchell. Killpoint happens to be one of them.

This is not a good martial arts movie. In fact, it is a very uncool movie. Probably the uncoolest of 1984, with filler candid shots of random people and bad choices of clothing (bell bottom jeans), music (worst "blues" ever heard) and setting (warehouse district showdown).

There is nothing remotely cool about Leo Fong either. He looks his age (56 back then), his character has no spark, his kung fu is lame and his hairdo is horribly dated - even for 1984 standards.

Which brings me to Cameron Mitchell. It's all about his overacting. He plays the ultimate bad guy putting flowers in his hair (!). 4/5 cheese

I just saw this a couple weeks ago.   Nice synopsis Claws, Roundtree is totally under utilized, Fong is a true stooge with that hair helmet, and truly this is one of Cameron Mitchell's most embarassing gig, and that is really saying something!  Highly recommended!

I have an old pyschotronic with an interview with Fong. It's kind of depressing.
