BYLETH, THE INCESTUOUS DEMON (1972)

Here's another obscure DVD-R I bought from Cinema de Bizarre.  I'm posting it here in the "Bad" forum.  However, I will admit I enjoyed much of the movie.  Unfortunately, it fell flat at the end so I can't recommend it.

Mark Damon stars as Lionello, a Duke who has been in love with his sister Barbara (Claudia Gravy) since they were children.  Lionello returns home after a long absence and becomes extremely jealous when Barbara tells him she is married.

Meanwhile, a local prostitute and Barbara's beautiful young maid are murdered by a mysterious figure wielding a weapon with 3 blades.  Eventually, the local priest announces his fear that the murders were committed by someone possessed by a demon named Byleth.  The priest also talks about exorcisms, but we never see one.

Typical of 1970s Euro thrillers, this has plenty of nudity and sex, enough so that it would probably get an NC-17 rating today.  Of course, the women have hairy armpits, but I won't dwell on that.

The movie is in Italian with English subtitles and it's obvious whoever translated it didn't speak English as a first language as there are occasional (often funny) grammar errors.

An interesting misfire.  It features more psychology than horror and unfortunately has an ending that will leave you disappointed.

Might be a movie to watch when I want some cheesy Euro trash to watch.

Hey, may be they were just trying for some authenticity! After all, its only in fairly recent times that women started shaving their armpits and legs. And, having lived in Italy ('99 -'03) I can say that the practice has still not died out!
