"So . . . either of you boys ever been fish-raped?"

It's not often you hear the words "Cthulhu" and "comedy" in the same sentence, or "Lovecraft" and "loony" - or "Hastur" and "hilarious" - but this is without a doubt the best Lovedcraft-inspired comedy I have ever seen.  It alternates between some genuinely creepy, gory scenes and some of the absolute silliest stuff ever placed on celluloid.

The second part of the LOst Key to Cthulhu's crypt has been recovered by cultists in Egypt, and now the Cthulhu Council at Miskatonic University must keep the other half of the key, which they have guarded for centuries, from falling into the hands of the cult.  Only one person can guard the key from the cultists:  a descendant of the bloodline of American horror icon Howard Philips Lovecraft.  So the council's youngest member takes the Relic to Jeff Philips, a cubicle-dwelling office drone and a descendant of the  Lovecraft family.  Jeff's roommate Charlie is familiar with the Cthulhu myth, but Jeff refuses to believe any of it - till a gaggle of Cthulhu cultists show up and try to wrest the relic away!
Then he and Charlie join forces with uber-nerd Paul, an old high school acquaintance and Lovecraft fanatic.  Together they head to the desert to find Captain Olaf, the only person to survive an encounter with Lovecraft's Deep Ones.  But can they get there before the cultists find them?  Can Captain Olaf overcome the trauma of being fish-raped and find a way to help them?  Will ANY of these guys ever see  a grown woman naked?

I laughed SO hard at this movie.  It is one of the best horror-comedies I have seen in ages.  If you are a Lovecraft fan, or a horror fan, this is a must-see!

Umaril The Unfeathered

I haven't seen this movie yet, but I did run into some odd people in a little out of the way town called Hackdirt a while back.....

Dawn's Beauty is our shining home.

An varlais, nou bala, an kynd, nou latta.
The stars are our power, the sky is our light.

Truth is power.

Heca, Pellani! Agabaiyane Ehlnadaya!
Be gone, outsiders! I do not fear your mortal gods!

Auri-El na nou ata, ye A, Umaril, an Aran!
Aure-El is our father, and I, Umaril, the king!

I thought the trailer looked utterly bad on my Hatchet II Blu-ray.
I have no rental option so I'll have to wait for a serious price drop before considering a blind buy.
